## In short

Hado is an 8-table fine dining restaurant on Hyanggyo-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. Booked for a 7pm weekend dinner, the basic course at Hado came with one pasta swapped to squid ink and one steak changed to chuck flap for an extra charge, and a birthday request brought out Earl Grey ice cream topped with a little bear candle. My partner and I go on dates in Haenggung-dong a lot, and I heard there's a great-atmosphere spot near there with affordable course meals, so this time we finally checked it out. The weather's been nice lately too, so we combined it with a walk around Hwaseong Haenggung Palace for a weekend outing :) They're also doing media art at Suwon Hwaseong Fortress right now!

## Where Hado is and where to park — right beside Gyodong Public Parking Lot

Hado is at 138 Hyanggyo-ro, 1st floor, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do. Hours are Tue–Sun 11:00–21:30 (break time 14:20–16:00), and Monday 16:00–21:30.

There's a Gyodong Public Parking Lot right next to the restaurant. First hour free, then ₩300 per 10 minutes, with a daily max of ₩7,000, so it's easy on the wallet. Having a lot right next door also made driving there really convenient :)

It's about a 13-minute walk from Suwon Hwaseong Haenggung Palace, on a quiet alley leading toward Suwon Station. It doesn't have that typical bustling Haenggung-dong feel — the brick-paved alley makes it feel calmer instead.

![Hado's exterior on the brick-paved alley of Hyanggyo-ro](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-02-mz4gi-966.webp)

![Quiet alley view leading to Hado's entrance](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-03-1kkgo-966.webp)

## Inside Hado: 8 tables, an open kitchen and a CD player on every table

![Interior of Hado, an 8-table restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-04-6jpuz-m-966.webp)

Hado's interior isn't huge, but it's a private, cozy space that fits 8 tables. We booked the 7pm weekend slot and when we arrived, 4 tables from the 6pm slot were still dining, and about 4 tables were also seated for the same 7pm slot as us.

![View of Hado's dining hall with the open kitchen visible](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-05-134pj-m-966.webp)

You can't choose between the 2-seat, 4-seat, or bar tables, but since it's an open kitchen, it's fun to watch the chef cooking 👨🏻‍🍳✨ That said, it's just one chef and one staff member running the whole floor, so it can take a bit of time for the food to come out — worth keeping in mind :)

![Table setting at a 4-person table at Hado](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-06-1ubm2-966.webp)

![CD player and CD collection displayed on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-07-1lt0t-935.webp)

We got lucky and were seated at a 4-person table, and each table has its own CD player 🎧 There's a rack of CDs of different genres behind it, so you can pick whatever you feel like listening to while you eat. It's a fun way to learn each other's taste and it naturally sparks conversation — perfect for a Haenggung-dong date spot.

## Hado course options, prices and corkage

![Hado's course menu board](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-08-9omkd-966.webp)

Hado offers two courses — a basic course and a season course — and both are dinner-only, so keep that in mind. For lunch, there are budget-friendly set menus, and pasta and steak can also be ordered à la carte at lunch only. Note: lunch is à la carte and set menus only!

Even as a dinner course, the basic course is in the ₩40,000s and the season course in the ₩60,000s — a genuinely affordable fine dining spot in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. These days even lunch courses can run ₩50,000+, so this is a real deal! If you're looking for a good-atmosphere date restaurant or a budget-friendly fine dining spot for a special occasion in Haenggung-dong, definitely give this a try ✨🍷

* Corkage is ₩10,000 per person (up to 2 bottles)

### What comes in Hado's basic course

- [Starter] Green pea tart / Sweet shrimp apple tart
- [Main] Minari yuzu bisque pasta
- [Protein] Chicken breast sous vide steak
- [Dessert] Earl Grey ice cream

## Green pea tart and sweet shrimp apple tart

![Plating of two appetizer tarts](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-10-1ebm4-966.webp)

The course started at 7:10pm, and food came out in the order tables were seated, so it took a bit of time to arrive. First up as an appetizer, two kinds of tarts.

![Green pea tart filled with pea purée](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-11-1loxu-966.webp)

Starting with the green pea tart — cheers! 🥂 Inside the thin, crispy tart shell is packed with green peas and pea purée, giving it a really soft texture! A subtle sweetness meets a smoothness like sweetened pea paste 🫛

Next, the sweet shrimp apple tart — cheers! 🍎 The combo of crisp apple and chewy sweet shrimp worked way better than I expected. The sauce was tangy too, which made it even more refreshing for waking up the appetite :)

![Tart topped with apple and sweet shrimp](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-12-n229n-966.webp)

I liked the sweet shrimp apple one more than the green pea!

## Minari yuzu bisque pasta

![Menu listing the pasta swap options](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-13-1i2cw-966.webp)

Hado's default pasta is the minari (water celery) yuzu bisque pasta, but you can swap it at no extra charge for carbonara, vongole, bisque, squid ink oil, or pomodoro. We changed just one of ours to the squid ink pasta.

![Yuzu bisque pasta topped with minari pesto](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-14-taz32-966.webp)

The bisque pasta topped with minari pesto. The rich, thick bisque sauce combined with the minari aroma works really well. It's creamy and deep, but the herbal note of minari that pops up now and then gives it a unique twist!

## Squid ink oil pasta

![Squid ink oil pasta topped with cuttlefish](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-15-1l8hq-966.webp)

A spicy oil pasta made with cuttlefish browned in butter and a slightly sweet squid ink.

![Close-up of the squid ink oil pasta](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-16-nyrox-966.webp)

Glad we swapped one pasta for the squid ink! Even as an oil pasta, it's not greasy at all — there's actually a slight kick of spice at the end that kept me wanting more. The cuttlefish was salty and chewy, which paired really well with the pasta.

![Bisque pasta and squid ink pasta side by side](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-17-h46p8-966.webp)

The rich, thick bisque pasta paired with the clean oil pasta is honestly the best combo :) Personally I'd recommend always swapping one pasta to squid ink. ⚠️ Warning: it can turn your mouth and teeth black, so be careful if you're on an early date or with a crush.

## Sous vide chicken breast steak

![Chicken breast sous vide steak with carrot purée](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-18-1k6ef-966.webp)

The chicken breast sous vide steak came with quinoa crunch and carrot purée 🥕🤍

Chicken breast is usually dry by default, but however long they sous vide this, it was genuinely soft and moist! None of that typical chicken breast dryness — just tender and juicy, so good.

![Cross-section of chicken breast topped with quinoa crunch](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-19-ce24s-966.webp)

The quinoa crunch on top adds a great texture when you bite into it together — crispy against the softness underneath. If chicken breast always tasted like this, I could eat it every day ..🥹

## Chuck flap steak — the paid menu change

## Chuck flap steak up close

We paid extra to switch one steak to chuck flap. Steak really does mean beef after all 🥩🥩

You eat it first with the red wine sauce, then next with the potato purée!

As always, steak never disappoints. Soft and melts in your mouth 🫠

I'd recommend upgrading one steak to chuck flap so you can enjoy it alongside the chicken breast! They each have their own charm, so it's worth trying both :)

## Earl Grey ice cream with a bear candle for the birthday request

![Earl Grey ice cream served as dessert](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-20-8oml9-966.webp)

My partner's birthday was coming up, so I made a birthday request, and they stuck a bear candle in when serving the dessert.

![Birthday dessert plate with a bear-shaped candle](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-21-935pz-966.webp)

The Earl Grey ice cream isn't too sweet — it's full of that distinctive fragrant Earl Grey aroma, light and clean, perfect as a dessert. The rich chocolate on top and the crunchy crumble underneath were the kicker!

![Sign about the receipt review perk next to dessert on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-22-km8po-966.webp)

Just a note: if you write a Naver receipt review, you get a takeaway rooibos apple lemon tea 🍎🍋

## Final thoughts on dinner at Hado

![Table at Hado after finishing the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle/hado-suwon-haenggungdong-course-birthday-candle-23-k3l7l-m-966.webp)

If you're looking for a fine dining spot in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, I'd recommend Hado's course meal! Great atmosphere, great value, and delicious ~ Since Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is doing media art right now, it's the perfect plan to have an early dinner course at Hado and then catch the media art show in the evening.
