It's called Biat, and honestly it's my hidden favorite spot ever! A big café that's still cozy and quiet?! That basically says it all haha. Biat Seongsu is on the 2nd floor of 24-45 Achasan-ro 5-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, open daily 12:00–22:00 with last order at 21:30. I picked the fig Greek croffle (croissant + waffle), made with Greek yogurt whipped cream and fresh figs. The dessert especially is a total knockout!! Did you know figs are in season right now? Make sure to eat some before fig season ends. I wasn't sure figs would go well with waffles, but it wasn't off at all, it was really good. This is the pistachio walnut Malenka. Does everyone know what Malenka is? Apparently Malenka is: - Thin cake sheets stacked in many layers - Honey cream between the layers - Moist + dense + chewy texture - A strong lingering honey flavor - Heavier and sweeter than a regular cream cake That's what I found out — it's said to originate in the Czech Republic. Apparently it's based on an Armenian honey cake recipe that was commercialized in the Czech Republic. The owner must be using great beans. They should honestly sell the beans separately! I used to buy these often from a neighborhood bakery back in the day, but nowadays even if I try to buy one on purpose, it's hard to find a place that sells them?! Getting to eat one here for free! I really enjoyed it after such a long time~ If you're looking for a quiet, roomy café in Seongsu, I really recommend Biat! Especially if you've been out hopping between pop-ups and restaurants and need a quiet place to rest, Biat checks that box. I especially recommend having a blind date or a meeting here.
