## If you want a quiet private-room dinner near Seolleung Station

It had been a while since I made dinner plans with coworkers, and since we are all self-managing(?) 21st-century women, we needed a high-protein, low-calorie, highly capable menu.. So, naturally, we chose protein-packed aged sashimi!! Our office sits between Seolleung and Yeoksam stations, so we had dinner at a nearby spot that was easy to reach on foot.

You can book through Naver too, with private rooms available by party size as standard—and Momiji Seolleung Branch (모미지 선릉점) has private rooms for every table! There is even a 5% discount for birthday or pre-wedding gathering reservations, so there are lots and lots of ways to book. So good!

Work ran later than expected, so we arrived almost an hour after our reservation, but I let them know in advance that we might be late and they kindly understoodㅠ

Following the staff to our room, go go! There was a decent amount of space between rooms, and once the door was closed it blocked noise really well, so we could barely hear anything outside. It was genuinely great for a private meal.

## Room settings tailored to your group and a wide Japanese menu

The room had been set in advance with cups and side dishes for our number of people. The side dishes were white kimchi, gungchae namul (seasoned stem lettuce), and green peas, and the gungchae namul was sooo good... The white kimchi too... We ate it all before the mains arrived, so later, while the staff member was explaining the dishes, they got as far as, “Have this with the white kimchi~,” then saw the empty bowl and laughed....☆★

From their signature sashimi sets to a uni and four-item set, the menu is packed with options. Beyond the sets, there is à la carte sashimi, premium Korean beef, yakitori, robatayaki, karaage and other fried dishes, nabe, and pot-cooked rice. Since it is originally an izakaya, people seem to commonly order snacks with sake, but we were definitely there for dinner, so we properly ordered the large seasonal assorted sashimi, shrimp yose nabe, and grilled pollock roe too!

## What came with the large seasonal assorted sashimi—and how it tasted

Here comes the large seasonal assorted sashimi!

The staff member kindly explained the types of sashimi too. Salmon, tuna, squid, flounder, abalone—there was nothing missing from this spread! It was also packed with sweet shrimp, ankimo (monkfish liver), and tako wasabi (wasabi-seasoned octopus).

Every slice was thick, and the aging had been done so well that it was wonderfully springy and chewy. Fresh flavor filling the whole mouth!!

Can you see that beautiful tuna color? I barely chewed it a few times before it just melteeeed away in my mouth... I want it again...

The chewy squid was also so thick and bouncy that, dipped in chojang (sweet-spicy vinegar sauce), it just went down so easily. And ankimo—need I say more? It was seriously so delicious.

The sharp, zippy tako wasabi had such a nice crunchy chew too, and there was more of it than I expected!

For the final palate cleanser: a sweet Japanese rolled omelet? Steamed egg? Its name was gyoku castella. I do not normally like sweet rolled omelets, but this was soft like castella cake, so it felt like dessert.

## Shrimp yose nabe for a chilly day

But we could not finish with sashimi alone... The weather had suddenly turned much cooler that week, and by the time it passed 6 p.m. on the day we visited Momiji Seolleung Branch, a chilly breeze was blowing. We had walked for more than 20 minutes from our office in Yeoksam to Momiji in Seolleung, and after shivering in the cold longer than expected, we decided that a brothy dish was absolutely necessary and ordered nabe haha.

![Shrimp yose nabe broth dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/seolleung-private-sashimi-nabe-momiji/seolleung-private-sashimi-nabe-momiji-21-13r4a-900.webp)

I am not sure whether they arranged it that way for us, but most of the main ingredients, such as tofu and king prawns, came in portions matching our party of three, which made sharing very easy and nice. The broth was neither too spicy nor too salty—just pleasantly spicy and refreshing—so it was also great as a palate cleanser after the sashimi.

It was even more delicious because it was loaded with ingredients: shrimp in different sizes, vegetables including napa cabbage and bok choy, plus shiitake and enoki mushrooms.

## Grilled pollock roe served with cucumber

The reaaally, truly final finish was grilled pollock roe... Each piece came paired with a slice of cucumber. At first I wondered what kind of combination that was, but once I tried it, it was incredibly good. I already knew cucumber was delicious with mayonnaise sauce, but adding the salty roe made it sweet, nutty, salty—everything.

From the assorted aged sashimi to the generously brothy shrimp yose nabe and grilled pollock roe with fresh cucumber, we had a wonderfully full meal with not a single weak point. Who knew you could eat this well at an izakaya without alcohol? Next time, I want to order a few kinds of yakitori with beer!

If you are looking near Seolleung Station for great aged sashimi in quiet private rooms, or a good place for a pre-wedding gathering, I recommend Momiji Seolleung Branch!
