## In short

Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Sangam Branch is a shabu kalguksu (hot pot with knife-cut noodles) restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Woori Technology building in Sangam-dong, Mapo, Seoul. This lunch added potato mandu (potato dumplings) and sujebi (hand-torn dough) to the perilla mushroom shabu-shabu kalguksu, working through minari and mushrooms, then the noodles, then fried rice cooked at the table by staff. The two add-ons gave the meal more texture and made one pot plenty for two people.

When you can't decide what to eat, the food you already know is always best haha ~ We came for lunch at Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu. We ordered the perilla mushroom shabu-shabu kalguksu, a menu you can enjoy like a course — starting with minari (water celery) and mushrooms and other vegetables, then moving on to kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) and finally fried rice 🙆‍♂️ From vegetables to noodles to fried rice in one menu, it's a filling one-meal spot and a great shabu kalguksu place in Sangam.

Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Sangam Branch is on the 2nd floor of the Woori Technology Building, 9 World Cup buk-ro 56-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Since it's on the 2nd floor of an office building in Sangam-dong, it's a convenient spot to visit during lunchtime.

## Plenty of tables, and Catch Table waitlist

Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Sangam Branch has quite a lot of tables inside, so it's good for visiting with a group too. During busy times like lunch hour, you can put your name on the waitlist through Catch Table so you don't have to keep waiting inside the restaurant.

## What arrives at the table after you order

Order from the tablet at the table and kimchi plus the shabu-shabu ingredients arrive together. Since the kalguksu and fried rice ingredients come out at the same time too, you just cook and eat each in order.

## Adding potato dumplings and sujebi to the pot

We added potato mandu sarrie and sujebi sarrie on top of the basic perilla mushroom shabu-shabu kalguksu. 🥟 If you feel like just kalguksu alone isn't enough after the shabu-shabu, adding various sarrie lets you enjoy a range of textures ~ With the mandu and sujebi added, the portion got even more generous, plenty for two people to share.

## Generous minari and fresh vegetables

The perilla mushroom shabu-shabu kalguksu comes with a generous amount of minari. 🥬 You cook the minari, mushrooms, and other vegetables in the boiling broth and eat them — and maybe because the restaurant has high turnover, the vegetables felt fresh too ~ The fragrant minari paired well with the mild broth, making it a light, easy-on-the-stomach shabu kalguksu spot in Sangam.

## Vegetables first, then kalguksu, dumplings and sujebi

Here's how to eat it: once the broth boils, add plenty of vegetables, cook them, and scoop them out to eat!

After eating a good amount of vegetables, add the kalguksu along with the potato mandu and sujebi sarrie you ordered extra. At this point you need to lower the heat 🔥

## Why the kimchi makes it better

You can't have kalguksu without kimchi. Pairing the warm kalguksu and sujebi with kimchi added a spicy, crunchy touch that went really well together haha.

## Finishing with fried rice cooked at the table

The final course is, of course, fried rice. 🍚 If you ask for fried rice, a staff member takes the whole pot away and makes it for you. The finished fried rice was savory and light, a completely different flavor from the shabu-shabu and kalguksu we'd just had. With the leftover broth flavor mixed in after all the vegetables and noodles, it was delicious right down to the last bite!!

## Takeout discount and receipt review event

Besides dining in, Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Sangam Branch also runs a takeout discount. If you're planning to take it home to eat, note that you can get a ₩3,000 discount on beef takeout! There's also a receipt review event where you can get potato sarrie or a drink, so it's worth keeping in mind during your meal.

If you're looking for a place in Sangam to enjoy shabu-shabu, kalguksu, and fried rice all in one visit, Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Sangam Branch is a great choice haha. Going through minari and mushrooms first, then kalguksu and extra sarrie, and finishing with fried rice made for a hearty, satisfying meal. You can handle the lunchtime wait through Catch Table, so keep that in mind if you're planning a visit for shabu kalguksu in Sangam.
