On this visit the order was ambbong sundae for 25,000 won, taken home, reheated and eaten with makgeolli, and the staff added green onion kimchi and diced radish kimchi on request, which made it feel like a full set meal. As the name suggests, Namdo Changpyeong Gukbap's main focus is gukbap, but they also have a wide range of dishes like sundae, suyuk, and stir-fried offal, so it works well whether you're coming for a bowl of soup or for a drink in the evening. The staff were really kind, and the restaurant was bigger and cleaner than I expected, giving off a bit of a different vibe from a typical gukbap place!!! Since I was here for sundae rather than gukbap this time, I ordered the ambbong sundae for 25,000 won. But since we didn't have any kimchi at home, I asked if they could possibly include a little bit... and they packed up green onion kimchi and diced radish kimchi for us too, oh my gosh ㅠㅠ When I opened the bag at home and saw the kimchi alongside the ambbong sundae, it felt like a proper full spread. And honestly, the kimchi here is genuinely delicious. The green onion kimchi was great, the diced radish kimchi was crunchy, and both went so well with the sundae. They cut it into big chunks, so I arranged it nicely on a plate once I got home. How could this combination possibly taste bad haha. With a little salted shrimp on top, the sundae's clean flavor really came through! Putting a piece of ambbong sundae on the gim and wrapping it up added a nutty seaweed aroma that gave it a whole different flavor. ## Next time: gukbap at the restaurant Eating the sundae made me realize I really need to try the actual gukbap next time! I heard Namdo Changpyeong Gukbap uses a broth that's clear yet deep in flavor, and since I didn't get to try the gukbap this time, I'm planning to have a hot bowl at the restaurant next visit. It seems like a great spot to fill up at lunchtime, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good lunch place near Yeoksam Station. It's a solid gukbap restaurant to visit whenever you're craving gukbap near Yeoksam Station, and on days when sundae suddenly calls to you like it did for me, ordering ambbong sundae to go and enjoying it at home with makgeolli is a great option too. Next time I'll skip the takeout and eat gukbap in the restaurant instead!
