## In short

The European Gwanggyo is a wood-fired pizza and Italian restaurant tucked inside the Gwanggyo café street in Suwon, Gyeonggi. Seated upstairs under the chandeliers, we ordered the rocket ham burrata pizza for ₩31,000 and the basil cream conchiglie burrata for ₩23,000, and what stuck with us was the crisp 485°C oven crust and the rich basil cream sauce. A repeat visit felt just as good as the first, making it a solid pick for a Gwanggyo dinner date.

When we want somewhere with a great atmosphere for dinner in Gwanggyo, there's a spot our couple keeps coming back to. It's The European Gwanggyo — we visited once before and loved the vibe so much we went back for another date. It's known for wood-fired pizza made by a chef who previously worked at the Shilla Hotel, so I always look forward to going.

## Three things I loved about this visit

✔ Rocket ham burrata pizza, a balance of saltiness and creaminess — the bitterness of the rocket, the saltiness of the ham (hamon), and the creaminess of the burrata cheese all came together in one slice, and the oven-baked dough, crisp outside and chewy inside, kept me reaching for more.

✔ Basil cream conchiglie burrata, soaked in basil flavor — shell-shaped pasta tossed with basil cream sauce and burrata cheese; if you love basil pesto, this is a must-order.

✔ European atmosphere under the chandeliers, perfect for a date — the space is split across two floors with elegant chandeliers and European-style interior, so we could eat comfortably while feeling like we'd stepped into a restaurant in Europe.

## Location and parking

- 🏢 Name: The European Gwanggyo
- 📍 Location: 26 Central Park-ro 128beon-gil, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea
- 🔒 Hours: Daily 11:00–21:30 (last order 20:30)
- 🚗 Parking: Available in front of the restaurant (limited), Café Street Public Parking Lot 2 (free weekdays 09:00–18:00)

It's tucked inside the Gwanggyo café street, but there's dedicated parking right in front of the restaurant, so it was easy to get to by car. Spots fill up fast on weekends, so if it's full, you can use the nearby public parking lot.

## The wine bottle wall and the 2nd-floor chandelier seats

Walking in, there's a staircase set between walls stacked with wine bottles, so the mood felt special from the moment we started climbing. The restaurant is split across two floors, and we were seated upstairs. A huge chandelier hangs above the staircase, and medieval-style decor and framed paintings cover the walls, making it feel like we'd landed somewhere in Europe.

The tables were spaced generously, which made it easy to talk, and instead of the noisy energy of a popular restaurant, it felt cozy and calm — really nice for a date.

The first time we came, I fell for this chandelier and staircase mood and took tons of photos — and seeing it again this time, it was still just as good.

## What we ordered and the prices

This time we ordered the rocket ham burrata pizza and the basil cream conchiglie burrata. There was a really wide variety of wood-fired pizzas, and maybe because they're made by a chef who trained at the Shilla Hotel, every single menu name looked impressive.

- Rocket ham burrata pizza ₩31,000
- Basil cream conchiglie burrata ₩23,000

## Rocket ham burrata pizza, 485°C oven-fired dough

![Wood-fired pizza and pasta served at the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie-10-maalq-1200.webp)

The dishes we ordered came out one by one, and pretty quickly too — I think it took under 10 minutes.

![Rocket ham burrata pizza fresh out of the oven](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie-11-1gscx-966.webp)

The pizza came out first, and after hearing it's baked at 485°C in a Stefano Ferrara oven, a savory aroma hit us the moment it arrived.

![Close-up of the pizza topped with rocket and hamon](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie-12-gva04-966.webp)

![Burrata cheese piled on top of the pizza](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie-13-1pyd4-966.webp)

The rocket's bitterness and the hamon's saltiness hit first, and when you pop the burrata cheese on top, the creaminess spreads out and the tomato's brightness comes through.

![Cross-section of the oven-fired dough on a lifted slice](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie-14-uhs8i-966.webp)

Biting into the dough, the outside had slight char marks and was crisp, while the inside was densely chewy — not too thin, not too thick, just the right thickness. When it got salty, the burrata cheese balanced it out, and when it felt rich, the rocket cut through it, so I kept reaching for one slice after another.

![Half-eaten pizza on the plate](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie-15-t08l9-966.webp)

![A plate of basil cream conchiglie burrata](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie-16-gb2y2-966.webp)

## So how does the basil cream conchiglie burrata taste?

The basil cream conchiglie burrata was shell-shaped conchiglie pasta topped with basil cream sauce and burrata cheese. The cream sauce was on the rich side, but the subtle basil aroma held it up, so it went down light and refreshing instead of heavy.

![Cream pasta mixed with sun-dried tomatoes](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie/gwanggyo-hamon-burrata-pizza-conchiglie-19-jib1f-966.webp)

The sun-dried tomatoes in particular had a strong presence. The two dishes we ordered were similar in style, but the concentrated tomato flavor differed between them, which made it more fun.

If you love basil pesto, this is a must-order menu item.

## Overall verdict after a second visit

Seeing that our satisfaction was just as high on this visit as it was the first time, I'm convinced this place is consistently good. If you want to check off great wood-fired pizza, a date spot, and European atmosphere all at once in Gwanggyo, I recommend The European Gwanggyo.
