While searching for good food in Dangjin, I finally took the family out to Myeongnyun Jinsa Galbi Dangjin Gijisi Branch after a long while. Myeongnyun Jinsa Galbi is famous for all-you-can-eat galbi (marinated short rib), and I've always eaten mostly galbi there too — but this time the result was completely different. I ended up eating way more pork belly than galbi, because the pork belly quality was better than I expected.

On top of that, the Global Galbi Festa was running the day we visited, so there was a lot more variety and fun to the meal than usual, and it turned out to be a great Dangjin restaurant to visit with a kid.

## What the dining room and self-bar are like

We visited in the evening and the place was already packed with family groups. Families with kids, students, and coworker groups — the crowd was mixed enough that it felt like a comfortable place to eat.

The tables were spaced generously, so moving around with a kid wasn't cramped, and the self-bar layout made it easy to grab meat or drinks. Even though it's an all-you-can-eat place, it was kept cleaner than I expected, and the staff quickly noticed and restocked whatever was running low, so there was no discomfort the whole meal.

## What's on the menu: galbi, pork belly, pork skin and eel

I always assumed this Dangjin restaurant was only about galbi, but looking around, there were actually more meat options than I thought.

Along with galbi, they had pork belly, pork skin, and eel, so you could grab whatever suited your taste. We went with 2 adults and our 5-year-old, and ordered a mul-naengmyeon (cold noodles) on top to finish the meal.

### Global Galbi Festa: galbi bun cha, fondue and tacos

The day we visited also happened to be during the Global Galbi Festa, with DIY stations for galbi bun cha, galbi fondue, and galbi tacos, giving a different kind of fun than a usual visit to Myeongnyun Jinsa Galbi.

Our kid thought it was fascinating, and with all of us making and assembling different bites, the meal ended up being a lot more entertaining.

### Unlimited draft beer and free soft drinks

One thing that caught my eye was the unlimited draft beer option. For just ₩4,900 extra you could drink unlimited draft beer — I really wanted to try it if I hadn't been driving.

On the other hand, soft drinks were free and unlimited, so whenever the meat felt too rich, a glass of soda cleared out my palate nicely.

## Why the pork belly tasted better than the galbi

At first we put the galbi on the grill, of course. The sweet marinade with a slight kick got my husband and me eating happily right away — very much the Myeongnyun Jinsa Galbi I remembered. (Note: it might be a bit too spicy for kids age 7 and under.)

But once we started grilling the pork belly, my whole opinion changed. The cuts were thick, and once they browned nicely, the outside turned crisp while the inside stayed juicy.

The juices were still there and the savory flavor was so good that my husband and I said that line to each other more times than I can count. In the end, we went back for pork belly far more often than galbi. I really didn't expect pork belly to be this satisfying at Myeongnyun Jinsa Galbi.

### Galbi fondue and marshmallows with a 5-year-old

We tried the Global Galbi Festa menu items along the way too, and the galbi fondue was fun for our kid, dipping the meat right into the cheese.

The owner also gave us some marshmallows, which made our kid really excited. The galbi tacos were a style you don't usually get at a Korean BBQ place, so that was a fresh experience too. Getting to enjoy the meat in several different ways, instead of just grilling and eating nonstop, was a part of this visit I really appreciated.

At the end, we finished with cool mul-naengmyeon. It felt like the perfect palate cleanser after all that meat, a fitting way to wrap up the meal.

After the meal, I also entered the Naver receipt review event. I didn't expect much, but I ended up winning 4th prize, which put me in a good mood for no particular reason. If you visit, it might be worth entering after your meal for a fun little memory.

But what stuck with me most happened right as we were leaving.

The owner saw our younger kid and handed over a lollipop. It was a small gesture, but our kid loved it, and that kind of thoughtfulness left me with an even better impression of this Dangjin restaurant.

## Final thoughts: who will enjoy this place?

This Dangjin restaurant, Myeongnyun Jinsa Galbi Dangjin Gijisi Branch, is a place we visited expecting all-you-can-eat galbi and left won over by the pork belly instead. Between the Global Galbi Festa, unlimited draft beer, free soft drinks, and a kid-friendly atmosphere, it made for a satisfying family meal out — and it's especially good value for families with teenagers who eat a lot. Next time, I'd like to go back on a day when I can enjoy the unlimited draft beer too.
