# Seongsu burger restaurant: wasabi shrimp and double cheese at bd Burger

## The Wasabi Shrimp I kept thinking about afterward

bd Burger was one of the places I ate at in Seongsu. Even after some time had passed, I kept thinking about the Wasabi Shrimp. It was generously filled with shrimp, with a bouncy yet crisp texture that I loved, and the wasabi was subtler than I expected, so it was not overwhelming. The Double Cheese had properly juicy, satisfying patties too. If I had to choose only one, I would really have to think about it—I would want to order both again when I come back.

## How do you get to bd Burger from Seongsu Station?

The branch I visited was bd Burger Seongsu Station Yeonmujang-gil. Its address is 2F, 7 Seongsui-ro 14-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, South Korea (서울 성동구 성수이로14길 7 2층), 404 m from Exit 3 of Seongsu Station on Line 2. From Exit 3 or 4, walk toward Daelim Changgo and Musinsa Mega Store; you will reach bd Burger in about five minutes. Hours are 11:30–21:00, with last orders at 20:30. There is no parking, and the store directs drivers to the paid parking lot at nearby Musinsa Mega Store Seongsu.

It is about 400 m from Exit 3 of Seongsu Station, so it was not difficult to reach on foot.

The restaurant is on the second floor, so check the bd Burger sign in front of the building and head upstairs. If you are driving, it is best to confirm parking in advance. The store information I saw said there was no separate parking-fee support and directed customers to a nearby paid parking lot.

## The second-floor space and seating

Once inside, I first noticed the exposed concrete ceiling and long, open space. It suited Seongsu's atmosphere well overall, and the run of tables made it easy to settle in comfortably over burgers.

There are lots of standard two-person tables, so plenty of people were eating alone. One side also had a separate area for drinks, tableware, and more.

There is a separate self-service area. Sauces, wet wipes, and small plates are self-serve. If you need extra drinks or water, you can easily help yourself at the self-service bar.

## What I ordered that day

You can order directly from the tablet at your table. It was convenient to select the menu and pay all at once. When the order is ready, the tablet sends a notification; after checking it, you pick up your burgers at the collection counter. We ordered quite a variety this time.

The important thing is that we did not eat only burgers. After trying it, I thought bd Burger was a place where you need to look at the sides too.

## Was the Wasabi Shrimp spicy?

I was curious from the name alone: bd WASABI SHRIMP. The first bite had a slight sharpness, but it was not the strong rush of wasabi I had expected. It came through gently and became almost unnoticeable as I ate. What I remembered more was the shrimp texture. There was a generous amount of shrimp, so every bite had that proper springy feel, and the crisp texture on top made it even better.

You might think wasabi would make this one divisive, but when I ate it, the shrimp texture stayed with me more than a strong wasabi flavor. This was also the menu I kept thinking about afterward.

## The Double Cheese patty's juiciness and texture

Whereas the Wasabi Shrimp was all about springy, crisp shrimp, DOUBLE CHEESE had a completely different appeal. What stood out most was the patty. Its juiciness and texture when I bit into it were really good.

After the shrimp burger, the Double Cheese made the distinct character of the two menus clear, and it was fun alternating between them. That is why I do not think I could choose just one to order again. If I return, I think I will order both the Wasabi Shrimp and Double Cheese again.

## A side I want again: fried eggplant and button mushrooms

The burgers were good, but the side that unexpectedly stayed with me was the fried eggplant and button mushrooms. It is a dish of fried eggplant and button mushrooms, but the texture felt a little different from fried dishes I have had elsewhere. Even though it was fried, it was not as rich as I expected, and the crisp outer texture held up, so I kept reaching for it. You can have it with chipotle and ranch sauces, which was nice for changing up the flavor to suit your taste.

At a burger place it is easy to think of fries first, but here, this is another side I would want to order again.

## Butter garlic fries and corn salad

The butter garlic fries had quite an intense flavor, just as their name suggests. Since they were fries topped with sauce, I thought they might be heavy or soggy, but when I ate them, I liked the crisp texture more than anything like that. The potatoes themselves were seasoned too, so I could taste the bold butter-garlic flavor along with their crunch.

We ordered corn salad as well,

and it was a nice side to have between the burgers and fried dishes.

## Hoegaarden with burgers, too

That day, I did not drink only Coke Zero—I also ordered a Hoegaarden. With two kinds of burgers, a range of fried sides, and a beer on the table, it really became a proper spread.

Especially if you are having two kinds of burgers and a variety of sides like we did that day, adding a beer is a good option.

## A place I want to revisit in Seongsu

It is difficult to pick just one item from what I tried this time.

The Wasabi Shrimp had the springy, crisp texture of generously filled shrimp. The Double Cheese had the juicy, chewy bite of its patty. And the fried eggplant and button mushrooms and butter garlic fries were not just incidental sides—each one was memorable in its own way.

If you are looking for a burger near Seongsu Station and cannot decide between a shrimp burger and a cheeseburger, these two have very different personalities, so choosing by your preference would work well. Me? If I go back to Seongsu, I would like to visit bd Burger again. And I will probably order both the Wasabi Shrimp and Double Cheese again then, too.
