## In short

Cafe Neorae is a large café on Wonamhaksapyeong-gil in the Haksapyeong area of Sokcho, with views of Ulsanbawi rock on Seoraksan. The order was a sseoda-shupeoner (Vietnamese condensed milk Einspänner) at 7,500 won, an Americano at 6,000 won and gamja-bbang (potato bread), enjoyed from roomy seats facing the mountain, and Cafe Neorae has its own parking lot plus family touches like baby chairs and a microwave. > A place where just sitting here makes you feel like you're on a trip!

When picking a café in Sokcho, good coffee matters, but so does finding "a place where just sitting here makes you feel like you're on a trip." Cafe Neorae was exactly that kind of place on this trip. 🏔️ The spacious, comfortable room combined with Sokcho's natural scenery made me want to linger rather than just grab a coffee and leave. Drinking coffee while looking out toward Seoraksan turned out to be even better than I expected. Today I'll honestly share my experience at Cafe Neorae, a Sokcho café I really liked.

## What kind of café is Cafe Neorae in Haksapyeong, Sokcho?

Cafe Neorae sits on Wonamhaksapyeong-gil in Haksapyeong, Sokcho — a large Sokcho café. The first thing I liked when I walked in was how spacious it was.

![Cafe Neorae's spacious indoor seating area](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking-02-1y81k-966.webp)

Sokcho has so many cafés that searching before your trip can leave you overwhelmed about where to go. There are plenty of prettily decorated cafés and plenty of ocean-view cafés, but this time I wanted something a bit different — somewhere not too crowded, with plenty of space, where I could enjoy a coffee and the surrounding scenery comfortably. That search led me to Cafe Neorae.

The tables weren't cramped together and the seats were comfortable, so instead of feeling like a quick stop, it had the mood of a place you naturally stay a while. When traveling, you end up needing a break to just sit down, and a spacious large Sokcho café like this was a welcome sight.

## How good is the Ulsanbawi and Seoraksan view from Cafe Neorae?

One reason I chose Cafe Neorae was the natural scenery. I liked being able to sit at the café and take in the surrounding nature at leisure.

![Natural scenery toward Seoraksan as seen from Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking-03-iedtw-966.webp)

The ocean is nice when traveling in Sokcho, but personally I also love looking toward Seoraksan. On a clear day especially, the view really comes alive, and drinking a cup of coffee felt less like a café visit and more like a scene from the trip itself.

These days, even at a pretty café, you sometimes sit down only to find the seats uncomfortable or the space cramped, so you just take photos and leave. Cafe Neorae had the ease that comes with a spacious room, and I liked that.

![Well-spaced tables at Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking-07-5ufly-966.webp)

It's fine for chatting with friends, nice for a couple wanting to relax with a view, and not stressful for a family visit either. So it seems like it would suit anyone looking for a Seoraksan café.

## Cafe Neorae's signature sseoda-shupeoner, 7,500 won

What I ordered at Cafe Neorae was a sseoda-shupeoner, an Americano, and gamja-bbang (potato bread) for dessert. The one I was most curious about was the sseoda-shupeoner.

![Drinks and gamja-bbang ordered at Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking-10-13xns-966.webp)

![Signature drink and dessert set at Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking-11-1wtlk-966.webp)

![A glass of Cafe Neorae's signature sseoda-shupeoner](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking-12-8pxgt-966.webp)

Sseoda-shupeoner, ₩7,500. A bit of an unusual name, right? It's the signature drink — a Vietnamese condensed milk Einspänner topped with cinnamon and Neorae cookies. It has a charm quite different from a regular Einspänner.

![Close-up of the sseoda-shupeoner topped with cinnamon and Neorae cookies](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking-13-yr3lf-966.webp)

The Vietnamese condensed milk gives it a soft, sweet feel, and the cinnamon on top added a subtle fragrance while drinking. Plus the Neorae cookie on top made it fun to look at as well as drink. I'm usually a bit skeptical of signature menu items with unusual names that turn out to taste ordinary, but the sseoda-shupeoner really did feel like a different experience from a regular Americano. Since I was in Sokcho, it felt right to pick something you can only get here rather than my usual coffee order.

## Want something simpler? The Americano at 6,000 won

Cafe Neorae's Americano is ₩6,000. While traveling, you sometimes order one sweet dessert or signature drink and need a plain coffee to go along with it.

![A cup of Cafe Neorae's Americano](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking-14-9vs6p-966.webp)

Ordering an Americano alongside makes it easy to share different menu items. Especially if you're visiting with a group, everyone can order drinks to their own taste, which makes this a solid pick if you're looking for café recommendations in Sokcho.

## Gamja-bbang (potato bread), the pick at this Sokcho bakery café

For dessert, I ordered Cafe Neorae's gamja-bbang (potato bread). Traveling around Sokcho or Gangwon-do, potato-based menu items tend to catch your eye, and this was a light dessert that paired nicely with coffee.

![Cafe Neorae's gamja-bbang (potato bread) dessert](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking-15-17z2x-966.webp)

Adding a simple bakery item instead of just drinks makes the table feel fuller. If you're visiting with friends or family, ordering one drink each and sharing a dessert is a nice way to go. If you're looking for a Sokcho bakery café, it's worth checking the dessert menu along with the drinks.

## Three things that won me over at Cafe Neorae

### 1. Cafe Neorae is spacious enough to stay a long while

This was what I liked most. Cafe Neorae's space itself is on the larger side, so it rarely felt cramped, and the seats were comfortable enough to relax in for a while.

![Spacious interior of Cafe Neorae, good for lingering](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking-16-nl514-966.webp)

![Comfortable seating and roomy layout at Cafe Neorae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking-17-1cv0w-966.webp)

A pretty café matters when traveling, but ultimately your satisfaction comes down to being able to sit comfortably. This felt less like a photo-and-go café and more like a genuine rest stop mid-trip. It works well for a group gathering and just as well for a date.

### 2. Easy parking makes Cafe Neorae a simple mid-trip stop

Cafe Neorae has its own parking lot, so parking was easy. Since most people get around Sokcho by car, parking quietly becomes an important factor when choosing a café.

![Cafe Neorae's parking lot and building exterior](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking/sokcho-cafe-naerae-family-facilities-parking-18-1f86h-966.webp)

No matter how pretty a café is, inconvenient parking makes you hesitate before even going, but Cafe Neorae's easy parking put my mind at ease. Especially when traveling as a family, there's a lot to think about from parking to seating, so having one less thing to worry about felt like a real advantage.

### 3. Baby chairs and a microwave make Cafe Neorae easy with family

I was impressed that Cafe Neorae is well equipped for visitors traveling with family. Having facilities like baby chairs and a microwave would be especially convenient for families visiting with kids.

Going out with a child makes picking even one café harder than it sounds — you have to check whether the seats are comfortable, whether the space is big enough, and whether there are facilities for the kid to use. It was reassuring to see these basic conveniences already in place. So it's a good stop not just for couples, but for family trips with parents and children too.

## Who is Cafe Neorae best for?

If, when choosing a café in Sokcho, you care not just about the taste of the coffee but about "what view am I drinking this with," Cafe Neorae will suit you well. It's especially good as a stop along the way if you've planned a trip around Seoraksan.

Photos are nice, but for me, the time I spent actually sitting and slowly drinking coffee while taking in the view stayed with me longer. Oddly enough, that's the kind of time that sticks with you from a trip. Racing between famous sights is good too, but for me, the moment of sitting at a café mid-trip thinking "this trip is good" was even better. In that sense, Cafe Neorae felt like a place worth checking out for anyone looking for an Ulsanbawi-view café, a stylish Sokcho café, or a cool Sokcho café.
