I went looking for a warm bowl of kalguksu in Yeouido. It's close enough to National Assembly Station to walk, so it seemed like a solid lunch spot. The building also has underground parking, so it'd be convenient even if you drive.

## Getting from National Assembly Station to Gaetbeol-ui Jogae Yeouido Main Branch

Gaetbeol-ui Jogae Yeouido Main Branch is an easy walk from National Assembly Station Exit 1. It took about 5 minutes from the exit, so it was convenient to get to by public transit too. The address is 2F, Geukdong VIP Building, 15-1 Gukhoe-daero 70-gil, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.

It was nice that I could use the underground parking even with a car. The parking entrance is near Twosome Place, so it wasn't hard to find by following along the building.

After parking, the store was right there on the 2nd floor, so the route wasn't confusing even on a first visit.

The place was clean overall and the seating felt fairly spacious. There are private rooms too, so it looked good for family gatherings or group dinners, and the atmosphere was comfortable for a relaxed lunch.

There were also add-ons like shabu beef, egg roe, live octopus, abalone, scallops, octopus, mushrooms and vegetables, shrimp, and extra noodles, so you could customize to taste. This time I ordered the clam-meat kalguksu for two.

## Yeolmu kimchi at the self-serve bar and free barley rice

The self-serve bar had kimchi, yeolmu (young radish) kimchi, wasabi, and more. Having yeolmu kimchi there was especially nice as a side while eating the kalguksu. Being able to take as much as you need was quietly convenient too.

And what I quietly liked here was that barley rice is provided for free. You could add yeolmu kimchi to the barley rice and mix it with either doenjang (soybean paste) or seasoned sauce,

and both were good so I ate both! It was just right to eat lightly before the kalguksu arrived.

Once the broth starts boiling, you add the noodles and wait about 5 minutes with the hourglass before eating!

As the noodles cooked, the broth gradually thickened a bit.

The broth was refreshing and clean-tasting. Rather than salty or intense, it was on the mild side, good for eating comfortably! If you usually like your food seasoned a bit stronger, it might feel slightly bland, but you could probably just ask for it to be adjusted if it feels underseasoned.

Using clam meat meant I didn't have to pick shells apart one by one, which made it easy to eat. There were also quite a lot of vegetables in the broth, which I liked.
