## In short

Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch is a monkfish stew (agujjim) restaurant on the main road by Olympic Park in Songpa, Seoul, close to Hanseong Baekje Station. Two of us booked the 11am Saturday opening slot and ordered the small Ttoksuni agujjim at 48,000 won in the mild version plus flying fish roe fried rice at 10,000 won, with a generous self-serve bar of yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi), japchae and green onion kimchi. The monkfish was plump and the seasoning gentle enough that we never needed a bowl of rice on the side.

I went to a really delicious monkfish stew place right in front of Olympic Park. Here's my review of Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch.

The neatly kept exterior already gave off that 'good restaurant' vibe.

## Booking the 11am Saturday opening slot: was there a wait?

![Spacious interior dining hall of Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening-05-84evu-900.webp)

We visited with a reservation for Saturday's 11am opening. Since we arrived early with a booking, we got in right away with no wait — but by the time we finished eating, the place had gotten quite busy. The parking lot in particular got pretty crowded, so if you're driving in on a weekend with a reservation, I'd recommend arriving a bit earlier than your booked time.

The inside was more spacious than I expected, and on one side there were various certificates and master craftsman plaques on display.

Certifications related to Korea's master chef program and qualifications as a medicinal food expert were on display, naturally catching my eye while we waited for the food.

## The menu at Ttoksuni Agujjim and what two people ordered

Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch centers around its signature agujjim, but also offers a fairly wide range of options, from dishes good for groups to lighter lunch items.

Since there were two of us, we ordered the small Ttoksuni agujjim for ₩48,000, and at the end, we couldn't skip the flying fish roe fried rice for ₩10,000.

## What is on the self-serve side dish bar?

![Self-serve side dish bar filled with food](https://img.superchart.com/images/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening-12-ap9d9-900.webp)

I fell for the generous self-serve bar first. Honestly, the self-bar impressed me almost as much as the agujjim itself.

From yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi) to japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), seaweed salad, cabbage salad, green onion kimchi, and even fried chili leaves — the variety was impressive, and it wasn't just about quantity; each side dish actually tasted good.

![Green onion kimchi and seaweed salad from the self-bar](https://img.superchart.com/images/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening-14-sdnf7-900.webp)

![Cabbage salad and fried chili leaves among other side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening-15-qu0hv-966.webp)

Especially the refreshingly fermented yeolmu kimchi, the warm japchae, and — to my taste — the green onion kimchi were really delicious. The seasoning wasn't overdone, with a subtle hint of salted seafood aroma that kept making me go back for more.

![Table of basic side dishes laid out before the main course](https://img.superchart.com/images/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening-16-madu4-966.webp)

This is how the table looked with just the basic sides laid out before the main dish even arrived. None of them were too salty, and above all, not sweet!!! I ate so well. You know that feeling when even the side dishes alone tell you it's a good restaurant?

![Basic sides served together with seaweed soup](https://img.superchart.com/images/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening-17-qqt5y-966.webp)

A warm seaweed soup soothed the stomach nicely before moving on to the main dish. I noticed quite a few people ordering the single lunch dishes, and with a self-bar this generous, ordering just one lunch item and pairing it with the sides seemed like a pretty good option too.

## Small Ttoksuni agujjim, 48,000 won: portion and spice level for two

Ttoksuni agujjim at ₩48,000 — the portion was genuinely generous for two people. It seemed like even three light eaters could share it and still have room for the fried rice. We ordered it mild, and it wasn't completely spice-free — more like a subtle, lingering kick at the end, which I liked.

![Close-up of the mild-spiced agujjim seasoning](https://img.superchart.com/images/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening-20-1gm92-900.webp)

![Picking up a piece of plump monkfish meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening-21-10ur1-900.webp)

And what I liked most of all was the monkfish meat! You can tell from the photos — the flesh was really plump. No fishy smell, clean-tasting, with that springy, bouncy texture unique to monkfish still intact. The bean sprouts and water dropwort were fresh and plump too, so they were fun to pick out and eat together.

![Agujjim mixed with bean sprouts and water dropwort](https://img.superchart.com/images/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening-22-1i0hr-900.webp)

![Sea squirts inside the agujjim](https://img.superchart.com/images/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening/ddoksuni-agujjim-jamsil-weekend-opening-23-1623j-900.webp)

The sea squirts mixed in added a nice crunchy bite here and there, adding fun to the texture. And the seasoning itself wasn't overly salty. Usually with agujjim you instinctively reach for a bowl of rice, but here I could keep eating just the agujjim without rice and it never felt like too much.

## Flying fish roe fried rice, 10,000 won

Flying fish roe fried rice for ₩10,000. Already pretty full, but you can't skip the fried rice, right? It came out on a big flat griddle, spread wide with seaweed flakes and three fried eggs on top. Instead of using the leftover agujjim sauce, it's stir-fried with a separate, freshly made seasoning — so it worked well as its own dish alongside the agujjim, like enjoying a whole other menu item at the same time.

I'd also recommend topping it with a strand of green onion kimchi — a great combo! Even though the agujjim portion was so generous that I was already full, I kept reaching for more all the way to the end.

For dessert, plum tea and rice puffs by the counter made for a satisfying finish! It was a meal hearty enough that you could skip dinner entirely.

## Verdict: who should eat at Ttoksuni Agujjim in Jamsil

Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch left me with lasting memories of plump, fishy-smell-free monkfish, crunchy bean sprouts, fragrant water dropwort, and a self-bar that was far more generous than I expected. On weekends, the place fills up and the parking lot gets busy by the time you finish eating, so if you're driving in with a reservation, plan to arrive a little early.

If you're near Jamsil or Olympic Park looking for a hearty agujjim spot for a family meal or a group outing, this is one Olympic Park-area restaurant I'd recommend!
