There's a subtle Sichuan pepper aroma to the grilled croaker, and it was honestly much more delicious than I expected. I worried the Sichuan pepper might be a love-it-or-hate-it thing, but all three of us who tried it loved it. Salty, with plenty of croaker flesh — good as a drinking snack, but substantial enough to be a main dish too! The grilled rice cake tucked underneath the croaker was also a hidden gem. Eating the savory, sauce-soaked rice cake alongside the fish turned out to be a surprisingly great combination. I love rice cake to begin with, so I kept reaching for more lol. The mala pork wide noodles had just the right amount of mala spice, and the wide, flat noodles gave a great texture. The mala wasn't so strong that you couldn't handle it — more the level that mala lovers like us could really enjoy. The soft-boiled egg on top was especially perfectly cooked, and eating it with the noodles was such a good combination.
