## In short

Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch is a Japanese restaurant in Gwanggyo, Suwon, Gyeonggi. We reserved ahead on a weekend, avoiding the wait, and shared hamburg omurice and tender beef cutlet grilled at the table with our child. Verdict: a lovely choice for a family meal with mild omurice and juicy gyukatsu.

## Gyuen-dang at Gwanggyo Avenue France: location and our visit

Do you all like gyukatsu (Japanese breaded beef cutlet), too? When gyukatsu first became a big thing, I remember going all the way to Seoul and waiting two hours to try it. I was SO blown away!! Hahaha. After that I totally forgot about gyukatsu, but recently I wanted it so, so badly!!! Then I found a great gyukatsu place near home!?!?!? So my husband, Inwoo, and I rushed over that weekend ❤️

Hours are 11:30–22:00 daily. Break time is 15:00–17:00, though there is no break on weekends. Last orders are at 21:00. Parking in the D24 area on Avenue France’s second basement level is convenient, and up to four hours are supported. Group visits, reservations, Wi-Fi, a waiting area, and high chairs are also available.

Gyuen-dang had a wait when we visited on the weekend. We had reserved the day before, though, so we were shown straight to our table. It was packed, making it hard to take photos of the interior 😭

They had kept the table empty with a clear reservation sign, and somehow that put me in such a good mood.

## Gyuen-dang’s menu and review event

Here’s Gyuen-dang’s menu.

Besides the main gyukatsu and omurice dishes, there were rice bowls, curry, udon, and even fried sides! They also had Kirin draft beer, which I wanted badly but resisted! Hahaha.

They’re also giving away okonomiyaki through a review event, so be sure to take part ❤️

## Fluffy hamburg omurice

The hamburg omurice came first. Salad, clear soup, sauce, and seasoned pickled radish (?) were all neatly arranged on one tray. I don’t know whether this is the right expression, but doesn’t the omurice look like a baby’s bottom? I loved it.

![Hamburg omurice](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice-10-ph8g9-966.webp)

There were instructions for eating the omurice on the table, so I read them carefully! Honestly, it was my first time having this kind of omurice, so I had to read them, haha. Carefully split it so the egg can slowly spread open. Once the knife passes through, wait for the egg to naturally unfold. (But that did not suit Korean-speed me, so I just ripped it open.)

![Opening the egg over omurice](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice-12-1n1by-966.webp)

Omurice finished, covered in a moist egg blanket ❤️

Before pouring on the sauce, I set some aside for Inwoo. A thick hamburg patty sat on top of fluffy fried rice; it was full of juices and not heavily seasoned on its own, so it was perfect for a child’s meal!! I think even kids who do not like meat would eat it really well. We let the sauce cascade over the remaining omurice.

Gyuen-dang’s hamburg omurice was wonderful because it was not overpowering at all. You could really taste the simple richness of the egg, while the juicy, moist hamburg patty made it feel satisfyingly substantial.

## How to grill well-marbled tenderloin gyukatsu

![Gyuen-dang tenderloin gyukatsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice-15-s26b3-966.webp)

We ordered the tenderloin gyukatsu. The food came out so fast!

![Tenderloin gyukatsu and tabletop brazier](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice-16-w9lzq-966.webp)

They lit the tabletop brazier for us, and if it goes out midway through, they will add more fuel.

![Tenderloin gyukatsu on the brazier](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice-18-johqf-966.webp)

Gyuen-dang’s tenderloin gyukatsu had absolutely insane marbling... and such a generous portion, too!!!! Amazing.

![Instructions for eating tenderloin gyukatsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice-19-15nrq-966.webp)

I carefully reread the gyukatsu instructions. Place the meat on the well-heated grill, then sear each cut side for 15–20 seconds. The key is not to cook it all the way through, but simply to give the surface some heat! We cooked Inwoo’s thoroughly and lightly seared ours on both sides.

For the first bite, I dipped it lightly in salt to taste the meat itself. How can something be this tender.... The breading around the meat was crisp, yet the meat was so tender it just disappeared. Those two textures together made Gyuen-dang’s gyukatsu extra fun to eat.

### Isigny butter and fresh wasabi together

Next, I placed some Isigny butter on it and grilled it together for extra flavor. As the butter melted into the meat, that buttery aroma was seriously incredible!!! What is this, steak?!

![Gyukatsu with Isigny butter](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice-23-1meh7-966.webp)

One bite of butter-grilled gyukatsu and the buttery fragrance spreading through my mouth was exceptional. Maybe the butter makes it grill a little crispier, too!? I liked this version even more.

![Gyukatsu with fresh wasabi](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice/gwanggyo-avenue-france-gyukatsu-omeurice-24-2egmp-966.webp)

Then I tried it with wasabi, too. The fresh wasabi tasted great, and whenever things started to feel a little rich, adding wasabi made it feel like starting all over again!! You know what I mean, right? I do not think I have ever seen a pairing beat salt plus wasabi with beef :) It is famous enough to have a wait, which surely means the word of mouth is that good~! Seeing all kinds of guests—couples, families, and more—made me think it would be great for dates or family gatherings. I recommend stopping by when you are craving gyukatsu and fluffy omurice after a long time ❤️
