## In short

Sinogu Banjeom (신오구반점) Byeollae branch is a neighborhood Chinese restaurant on Buram-ro 109beon-gil in Byeollae, Namyangju, Gyeonggi. After their usual spot closed down, a couple ordered Set 4 for lunch — basic jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) — and the portions were so large they packed the leftover tangsuyuk to go. Generous ingredients, well-judged seasoning, a self-serve pickled radish bar and diagonal parking out front made Sinogu Banjeom their new regular in Byeollae.

Today I went for lunch at Sinogu Banjeom Byeollae branch near my workplace. My husband had been singing the jjajangmyeon~ jjajangmyeon~ song for a while now, but the Chinese restaurant we used to go to closed down and we had nowhere to go 😭 We were completely nomadic Chinese-food refugees, but we finally found a good spot in Byeollae.

## How much squid is in the basic jjamppong?

At Sinogu Banjeom Byeollae the owner doesn't skimp on ingredients, so the portions were genuinely generous 😮😮

![A bowl of basic jjamppong loaded with ingredients](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-02-n8i09-966.webp)

![Close-up of jjamppong with lots of squid](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-03-ryhcr-966.webp)

![Chopsticks lifting up jjamppong ingredients](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-04-1kv6p-966.webp)

I really love the squid in jjamppong, but a lot of places are pretty stingy with it. At Sinogu Banjeom Byeollae, though, even the basic jjamppong was packed with ingredients. So next time I really want to try the samseon jjamppong (deluxe seafood version) — if the basic one is like this, I can only imagine what the deluxe one is like. Already looking forward to it 😋😋

![Jjamppong broth and noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-05-19mvp-966.webp)

And honestly the jjamppong broth is the real kicker!! Not too spicy, not too bland, just the perfect broth — I wanted to pour rice into it right away, but the noodle portion alone was so huge I couldn't manage it. While we were eating, a lot of delivery orders seemed to be coming in too, so maybe ordering delivery next time would be good, since then I could finish all the broth 😁😁

![A bowl of jjajangmyeon from Sinogu Banjeom Byeollae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-06-eze0l-966.webp)

![Close-up of glossy jjajangmyeon noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-07-rluak-966.webp)

### Jjajangmyeon at Sinogu Banjeom: seasoning and noodle texture

The jjajangmyeon also had just the right seasoning — not too bland, not too sweet — so I really enjoyed it. The noodles weren't soggy either, all shiny and glossy, which made my mouth water.

![A generous plate of tangsuyuk](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-09-1j43m-966.webp)

### Tangsuyuk with no gamey smell — and leftovers to take home

And now for the tangsuyuk...!! If you pick the wrong Chinese restaurant, tangsuyuk can be the worst — gamey meat smell plus stiff, hard batter. But at Sinogu Banjeom Byeollae there wasn't a trace of gamey meat smell, and the portion was so huge we ended up packing the rest to take home. I don't like it when the sauce has that pineapple-y sourness, but here it was just the right amount of sweet and sour, which really suited my taste.

![Self-serve pickled radish and onion bar](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-10-1x9xr-966.webp)

If you run out of pickled radish or onion, you can just help yourself at the self-serve bar, which was convenient 😊

## What comes in Set 4, and the rest of the menu

![Menu board at Sinogu Banjeom Byeollae](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-11-sp25r-966.webp)

![Menu board listing cooked dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-12-1lmhd-966.webp)

![Menu board with set meal options](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-13-1gc55-966.webp)

![Menu board showing alcohol and dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-14-1jwc4-966.webp)

My husband and I ordered Set 4, and honestly, for this much food at this price, it's a steal. Looking at the menu, there were also lots of cooked dishes and alcohol on offer, so next time it seems like it'd be great to come in the evening for a dish and a drink.

## Dining room atmosphere and eating with kids

![Dining room with Chinese-style lighting](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-15-1u75e-966.webp)

![Tidy interior with tables arranged](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-16-1rcp6-966.webp)

![Wall sign noting the use of plant-based oil](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-17-1s15v-966.webp)

The dining room had Chinese-style lighting that really made it feel like a Chinese restaurant, and it was kept nice and clean. There was also a sign on the wall saying they use plant-based oil, which put my mind at ease while eating. Oh, and I didn't get a photo of it, but they also had baby chairs, so it seems like you could comfortably dine here with a child too.

## Where do you park at Sinogu Banjeom Byeollae?

![Diagonal parking space in front of the restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong/sinogu-banjeom-byeollae-jajangmyeon-jjamppong-18-1yq6g-966.webp)

For parking, there were 2 spots on the side of the restaurant, and you could also park diagonally out front! We might have just gotten lucky the day we went since parking was wide open, but if it's busy and there's no spot, using a nearby public parking lot should work too!

## Is Sinogu Banjeom worth it? Final verdict

- The owner doesn't skimp on ingredients
- Seasoning is just right, so it's delicious
- There's a reasonably priced set menu
- There's also a wide range of cooked dishes

Today I introduced Sinogu Banjeom Byeollae, the place my husband and I, once wandering jjajangmyeon nomads, have decided to settle down at. If you haven't found your Chinese restaurant in Byeollae yet, definitely go check out Sinogu Banjeom — you won't regret it.
