## In short

Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch is a squid and live-fish sashimi restaurant in Bojeong-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi. Four of us ordered the squid and live-fish sashimi set plus mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), a somyeon noodle add-on and squid fritters, alternating between sashimi, mulhoe and fritters, and the fish tasted clean with no fishy edge. Mr. Squid works well for a group that wants to spread an order across several dishes.

## What four of us ordered at Mr. Squid in Bojeong-dong, Yongin

Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch is a sashimi restaurant on the first floor of 5 Jukjeon-ro 15beon-gil, Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do. Yesterday, four of us went out for a nice dinner together after a while.

That day I was craving sashimi, but also wanted something cool like mulhoe, and something crispy like fritters too — so after some back and forth, we picked a place where we could enjoy all of it together. That place was Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch.

Here's what we ordered that day:

- Squid & live fish sashimi set
- Live fish mulhoe (cold raw fish soup)
- Somyeon noodles (thin wheat noodles)
- Squid fritters

That's what we went with. With several people eating together, we got to enjoy a nice variety, and the portions came out bigger than expected — a really satisfying meal.

As the dishes started arriving one by one, the table filled up before we knew it. With live sashimi, mulhoe, and squid fritters all laid out together, just looking at it made our mouths water. For four people, the spread was varied and the portions were more than enough.

The most important thing to me when eating sashimi is freshness, and that day it really showed — the fish was clean-tasting without a strong fishy taste, so it was delicious.

## What's on the menu at Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch

Looking over the menu at Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch, there was a wide range beyond just squid and live fish sashimi — mulhoe, fritters, and rice dishes were all available too. It seemed like a great place for a group, since everyone could order what they were in the mood for.

After some deliberation, we centered our order around the squid & live fish sashimi set, then added on mulhoe and somyeon noodles that come with the set separately, and squid fritters too — because it was so good we ended up ordering extra.

## The squid and live-fish sashimi set: what comes with it and how it tastes

The squid & live fish sashimi set finally arrived! The sashimi — flounder, sea bass, trout, and salmon (this can vary by season) — was arranged beautifully, with plenty of side dishes to go with it, so the first impression was already generous. Eating together as four and trying each piece one by one, the food talk naturally started flowing and the whole meal felt even more fun.

Sashimi really does taste best eaten right away. I picked up a piece, dipped it lightly in chojang (vinegared chili sauce), and it had a lovely chewy texture. It was also great wrapped in lettuce or perilla leaf with garlic, or just eaten on its own to enjoy the natural flavor. Overall the fish was clean-tasting, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy.

Eating sashimi non-stop eventually makes you crave something else, but that day we'd also ordered mulhoe and fritters, so we could alternate between different flavors. A bite of sashimi, a spoonful of mulhoe, a piece of fritter in between — the combination worked better than I expected.

## How were the mulhoe and the somyeon noodle add-on?

One of the dishes I really enjoyed that day was the live fish mulhoe. The cool, tangy broth with sashimi and vegetables mixed in felt like it instantly perked up my appetite. Spooning up the fish and vegetables together with the broth gave a completely different flavor from regular sashimi. It felt like the kind of cool dish you'd crave on a hot day or when you've lost your appetite.

I mixed the fish and vegetables in the mulhoe together and tried it. Thanks to the tangy, refreshing flavor, I didn't get tired of eating fish even after a while. And of course, mulhoe wouldn't be complete without somyeon noodles.

Partway through, we added the somyeon noodles and ate them together. As the mulhoe broth soaked into the noodles, it almost felt like a whole different dish. After eating through the fish and vegetables and then adding the noodles, it became more filling, and we got to enjoy the broth deliciously right to the end.

## Squid fritters at Mr. Squid: good enough to order twice

The squid fritters that came along with our sashimi and mulhoe order were so good that it felt like a shame not to have a couple more, so we ordered an extra plate of squid fritters! Golden-fried and looking irresistible from the moment they arrived. Crispy on the outside with a chewy squid texture inside, they had a completely different charm from the sashimi.

Fritters really do taste best while they're hot. The crispy batter and chewy squid paired really well together. Eating a piece of fritter between bites of sashimi and mulhoe, we got to enjoy a nice variety of flavors evenly.

## Is Mr. Squid a good pick for a group or family dinner in Yongin?

We visited as a group of four that day, and I thought we'd made the right call ordering a variety of dishes. Rather than sticking to just one food, having sashimi, mulhoe, noodles, and fritters together made the meal more fun, and everyone could pick and choose based on their own preference. If you're planning a family dinner out, a meal with friends, or a gathering with several people, this kind of menu mix seems like a solid choice.

Above all, the food that day was fresh overall and the portions were generous, so it was a satisfying meal for four. I think freshness really matters with sashimi in particular, and this wasn't strongly fishy at all, just clean-tasting and delicious. The mulhoe was cool and tangy, perking up our appetite, while the squid fritters were crispy and made for a nice treat in between.

Chatting away as the four of us ate, the food disappeared bit by bit before we knew it. When there's good food around, the meal naturally stretches on and there's more to talk about. This meal was even more satisfying because we got to enjoy everything from sashimi to mulhoe to fritters.

## Final thoughts on Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch

If you're looking for a sashimi restaurant in Bojeong-dong that's good for a group, Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch is worth keeping in mind. That day we ordered the squid & live fish sashimi set, mulhoe, somyeon noodles, and squid fritters, and the four of us ate well and plenty.

The sashimi was fresh with a good portion, and the mulhoe was cool and tangy, perking up our appetite. Add in crispy squid fritters, and the variety made it a great spot to visit with several people. Rather than sticking to just sashimi, I'd recommend ordering mulhoe or fritters alongside it to try a bit of everything.

If you're in Bojeong-dong, Yongin and craving sashimi, want something cool like mulhoe, or are looking to have a hearty meal with a group, this place is worth checking out. The four of us left having eaten really well.
