When you travel to Sokcho, eating sashimi at least once feels almost mandatory. But sometimes, even though eating out is nice, you just want to eat comfortably back at your accommodation. Especially after walking around all day, finding a restaurant and waiting for a table in the evening can be surprisingly tiring.

So this time I decided to get Sokcho sashimi takeout and eat it comfortably at the hotel. The place I picked up from is called Hoega in Sokcho. I ordered a mixed sashimi platter (small) and mulhoe, and to cut to the chase, the mulhoe was especially delicious haha.

The packaging was really well done, so all I had to do was open it up at the hotel and lay it out. Let me walk you through my Sokcho sashimi takeout experience step by step.

## Sokcho sashimi takeout, Hoega in a residential neighborhood

While searching for Sokcho sashimi takeout, I ended up visiting Hoega. It's located in a residential area, so it had a different feel from sashimi restaurants sitting right in the middle of the tourist zone.

If anything, this kind of spot gave off more of a local favorite vibe, so I was personally more excited about it. I ordered ahead of time before visiting and picked it up at the set time.

## Mixed sashimi (small) + mulhoe, packed to go

This time I ordered the small size mixed sashimi platter. Since I'd come all the way to Sokcho, I wanted to try several kinds of fish, so I went with a mixed platter instead of a single type.

When I opened the takeout box, the sashimi was neatly arranged, which made a great first impression. With takeout sashimi, since you have to travel back to your accommodation, how it's packed really matters.

It was packed cleanly enough that nothing shifted out of place, so it was easy to just pull it out once I got to the hotel. Even without transferring it onto a nice plate, it already felt like a full spread on its own haha.

## Mulhoe packed to go too! The broth comes separately

Honestly, I debated whether to just get the mixed sashimi, but I ordered mulhoe alongside it too. In the end, I was really glad I did.

Personally, the mulhoe left more of an impression on me than the mixed sashimi. The broth was tangy and refreshing, generously packed with fish, and with the vegetables mixed in, it really woke up my appetite.

What made it even better eating it at the hotel was how well the mulhoe was packaged. The broth was neatly packed separately, so all I had to do was pour it in when eating.

They also included everything you'd need to eat it, so there was no need to pull out multiple plates or prep any ingredients separately at the hotel.

Pour in the broth, mix it well, and just eat — it made for a really easy meal on a trip.

If you like mulhoe, I'd definitely recommend ordering it alongside your sashimi. I think I'd order the mulhoe again if I go back haha.

## The mixed sashimi came generously portioned too

The mixed sashimi had several different types in it, so it was fun picking out one piece at a time. The slices weren't too thin either — they were nicely thick, so you could really feel the texture of the fish when you took a bite.

Each type had a slightly different texture, so I tried them dipped in soy sauce, dipped in vinegar-chili sauce, and wrapped in lettuce, mixing it up a bunch of different ways.

Since it was sashimi eaten comfortably at the hotel, I liked that I wasn't rushed and could take my time eating it.

A bite of sashimi, a spoonful of mulhoe, another bite of sashimi haha — eating like that, I ended up going through more than I expected.

## Why eating sashimi takeout at the hotel worked so well

Eating at the hotel meant no worrying about waiting for a table, and I could just rest right after eating, which made the trip feel a little less tiring overall. And if you're traveling with a group, it's also nice that everyone can eat comfortably at their own pace.

After trying this, I think I'll definitely get mulhoe takeout again on my next Sokcho trip haha. Sometimes, when you're traveling, that last dinner eaten comfortably at the hotel ends up being the best part of the day.
