If you are looking for a Korean restaurant near Seocho Station where you can comfortably go with a child, Seocho Jeonggye (서초정계) was especially good for dak han mari (whole chicken hot pot). When I visited, the rich broth came generously loaded with chicken, potatoes, and rice cakes, making it a wonderfully filling meal. Let me share why it felt like a good choice for eating out with a child near Seocho Station.

## Why did I choose Seocho Jeonggye?

Choosing a menu is the hardest part of eating out with a child, isn't it? It has to suit the adults, be something the child can eat, and not be overly intense. That day, I was especially craving warm, hearty Korean food. That is how I ended up at Seocho Jeonggye.

It is close to Exit 8 of Seocho Station, so getting there with a child did not feel like a big undertaking. I loved that the route let me conserve Mom energy first 🙂↕️

Seocho Jeonggye is on the first floor of Mido Building, 20 Beobwon-ro 1-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul. It is about 119 m from Exit 8 of Seocho Station, an easy walk away. Being so close to the station made it easier to get there with a child, and once we ducked off the main road into the alley, the hanok-style sign made it easy to spot.

## A dining room that was comfortable with a child

The restaurant felt clean and neatly kept overall. The tables were not packed too closely together, so it was comfortable to sit and eat with a child. It was not overly hectic either, which made for a relaxed meal. Taste matters, of course, but this kind of atmosphere matters more than you might think. It felt like an easygoing option for a family meal or dining with children.

## Ordering dak han mari and grilled chicken cartilage

That day, we ordered dak han mari and grilled chicken cartilage with salt. I was most excited about the dak han mari to share with my child, while I was curious about the chicken cartilage for the adults. It was a great menu lineup because we could choose something for the child and something the adults would enjoy, too.

### Why was the dak han mari broth so satisfying?

The dak han mari was impressive from the very first spoonful of broth. The first taste made me think, “This is proper restorative food.” The deep, rich broth almost had the depth of a Korean herbal tonic. Still, it was not too heavy or aggressive, so I kept reaching for more.

Dak han mari was not just chicken. It also came with potatoes and rice cakes, so there was definitely fun in every bite.

Even when you order just one dish, eating chicken, potatoes, and rice cakes makes the meal feel so much more abundant. If you are looking for something filling, I think this dish would be very satisfying.

The chicken was tender, too. Bomi is normally quite a picky eater, but she ate the chicken well that day. When I served her small portions of the gently cooked meat, she ate it more easily than I expected.

At moments like that, Mom cannot help feeling more at ease. When your child eats even one meal well, it feels like eating out was a success, right? My husband tried the broth and said it was rich but easy on the stomach. I felt exactly the same way.

![Kimchi served with dak han mari](https://img.superchart.com/images/seocho-station-chicken-family-meal/seocho-station-chicken-family-meal-12-t27sq-966.webp)

Putting kimchi on the chicken brought out its clean, mild flavor even more, and I kept going back to the broth until the end. A spoonful of hot broth somehow made me feel energized.

### What did the grilled chicken cartilage taste like?

The grilled chicken cartilage with salt had a completely different appeal from the dak han mari. The characteristic crisp-chewy crunch of chicken knee cartilage was unmistakable, and it had such a satisfying bite.

It came stir-fried with vegetables, so it was clean-tasting rather than greasy. Most of all, the garlic was really delicious.

The evenly cooked garlic was nutty and lightly sweet, lifting the whole dish. This is closer to a menu item adults would enjoy than one for children. It would also be just right with a light drink in the evening.

At Seocho Jeonggye, I would choose dak han mari when dining with a child, then add grilled chicken cartilage if you want to cover the adults' tastes as well. It was a pretty great combination.

- Best dish for eating with a child: dak han mari
- Most satisfying point: the rich broth
- What made it more fun to eat: chicken, potatoes, and rice cakes
- Adult recommendation: grilled chicken cartilage with salt
- Unexpected highlight: evenly cooked garlic

## Why it worked well for a meal with a child

When eating out with a child, before taste, you first wonder, “Can I actually feed this to them?” In that respect, dak han mari was a genuinely practical dish. There were so many easy ingredients to serve a child: tender chicken, fluffy potatoes, and chewy rice cakes. Another advantage was that it was not overly spicy or strongly seasoned. If you are looking for somewhere to eat with a child, this would clearly feel like a strength.

## Hot broth dishes need time to cool

Honestly, there was one thing. Because dak han mari is served boiling hot, it is difficult to give to a child right away. You need time to portion it out and let it cool. At first, Bomi was fussing because she was hungry, so I hastily served her some, then had to let it cool for quite a while before giving it back to her. Moms, you know, right? Even when eating out, Mom is ultimately the busiest person. 😂

Still, this did not feel like a major inconvenience because it is simply the nature of a broth dish. If anything, we ended up eating more slowly and comfortably. I was busy at first because of my child, but in the end, seeing her eat a good meal made me even more satisfied.

## Who would enjoy it?

- People who enjoy rich-broth dak han mari
- People looking for a hearty restorative meal
- People who also enjoy crunchy dishes to have with drinks

## Would I visit again?

One hundred percent, yes! What I liked about Seocho Jeonggye was that it has dishes that work well with children alongside dishes adults can enjoy. The dak han mari had rich, hearty broth that felt properly restorative, and the potatoes and rice cakes made the meal even more satisfying. The grilled chicken cartilage had a great chew, while the vegetables and garlic came together beautifully for an adult-friendly dish. If you are looking for a restaurant to visit with family, or somewhere suitable for eating out with a child, it is worth trying once.
