I took a long trip through Gangwon-do this time, and along the way I visited Seo Jubang, a well-known spot on Sokcho's Dongmyeong Harbor pojangmacha street that locals keep coming back to. After the visit, what stuck with me most was how neat and tidy the drinking set (a shared table of small side dishes) was.

## Where is Seo Jubang? Hours and parking in Sokcho

Seo Jubang is on the 1st floor at 12 Yeongnanghaean 6-gil, Sokcho, on the pojangmacha street. It's open Monday to Sunday from 18:00 to 03:00, and Friday and Saturday until 04:00.

There's a big wooden platform seating area right in front of the shop, and apparently you can just sit there. If my husband and I had come just the two of us, I think we'd have sat right on that platform and really soaked in that outdoor night-market vibe.

Seo Jubang isn't some small pojangmacha-street watering hole — it's a spacious 60-pyeong bar with 80 seats. It has group seating, so I'd also recommend it as a spot for a company dinner.

### Complimentary starters and barley tea at Seo Jubang

The basic side snacks were banana chips and seaweed crackers. Not having beer with these would practically be a foul, right? So we ended up finishing a bottle before even ordering the main menu... haha ^^;

And here's something all the alcohol lovers will know. If a bar gives you barley tea or heotgae-su (hangover-relief tea), that means you can drink one more bottle — it's basically an official rule. Well, Seo Jubang serves barley tea. Nice touch from the owner!

So here's the drinking set we ordered at Seo Jubang, our Sokcho pojangmacha-street pick. Neatly arranged on a single spread, it felt like Sokcho itself — abai baeksundae (blood sausage from Sokcho's abai village), squid sukhoe (blanched squid), pollack hoe-muchim (spicy raw pollack salad), steamed scallops, and potato salad with pollack roe mayo made up the small side dishes.

- Abai baeksundae: the skin wasn't tough at all, very tender
- Squid sukhoe: cooked just the right amount, really tasty
- Potato salad / pollack roe mayo: salty and clean-tasting, kept me reaching for more

### Why warm boiled pork works when eating with kids

The warm boiled pork had no gamey smell, was soft and thinly sliced, so it was great to eat together with the kids, and it paired well with the vegetables served alongside. The broth was subtly spicy, which made it perfect as a drinking companion too. If you're like me and need soup while drinking, this broth will really settle your stomach. Highly recommend the warm boiled pork!

There's one more special combination — try wrapping the warm boiled pork together with the pollack hoe-muchim. The two together were really delicious. Every single basic side dish in Seo Jubang's drinking set was good, without exception.

## Clean indoor restroom and soft lighting at Seo Jubang

What I liked best was that Seo Jubang has its restroom inside the building. Because the restaurant manages it directly, it was genuinely one of the cleanest bar restrooms I've come across.

The lighting was also soft and warm, making it a great spot for selfies too.

Even though it's a bar, the food came out so hearty and well put together that it felt like a full, satisfying meal with a drink on the side. We cleaned every plate like it was kimchi ^^. An empty plate is proof of a good restaurant. If you're looking for a Sokcho pojangmacha-street favorite with group seating near Dongmyeong Harbor, I recommend Seo Jubang.
