## Goshigoshi menu and prices

Goshigoshi's menu isn't just tonkatsu — there's quite a variety of soba (buckwheat noodle) dishes too. I didn't realize there'd be so many soba options, so it was tough deciding between the two.

- 🍴 Basil demi tonkatsu ₩13,900
- 🍝 Toowoomba soba ₩12,900

## How spicy is the toowoomba soba?

Goshigoshi's toowoomba soba (₩12,900) is on the quite spicy side, which could be a lot for people who can't handle heat. The red broth comes topped with bacon and shrimp, and the basil demi tonkatsu that arrived with it had basil sauce drizzled over the cutlet.

![Table spread of basil demi tonkatsu and toowoomba soba](https://img.superchart.com/images/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu-14-jdbat-900.webp)

Our daily bread arrived pretty quickly 🍴 Smelled amazing from the first whiff.

![Toowoomba soba topped with bacon and shrimp](https://img.superchart.com/images/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu-15-1lega-966.webp)

I tried the toowoomba soba first. The broth looked red so I expected some heat, and sure enough the spiciness hit hard from the first bite.

![Toowoomba soba noodles and whole shrimp](https://img.superchart.com/images/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu-16-5lmqw-966.webp)

The portion was generous and the soba noodles were tasty. The bacon was cooked well with a good chew, and the shrimp were plump too.

![Side dishes of pickled chili, diced radish kimchi, and salad](https://img.superchart.com/images/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu-17-7wvpy-966.webp)

That said, the spice level was stronger than I expected, so it might be a lot for people who can't handle spicy food. If you're usually sensitive to heat, keep that in mind. The side dishes were pickled chili peppers, diced radish kimchi, and salad.

![Doenjang soup served with the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu-18-o3r40-966.webp)

And this doenjang (soybean paste) soup had a pretty unusual flavor. A taste I hadn't had before. I'm no culinary expert so I can't pin down exactly what it was, but the more I sipped it, the more it lingered in my mouth.

![Barley rice received upon request](https://img.superchart.com/images/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu-19-1oxzi-966.webp)

Rice didn't come with the dish at first, and since there wasn't a rice option listed separately, I asked and they said barley rice was available, so I got that. The menu photo showed rice, so I wondered why it was left out — turns out the soba portion was so big I didn't even need the rice..! Sorry for leaving some, owner. Sorry, planet Earth ㅠ.ㅠ

![Toowoomba soba noodles mixed together](https://img.superchart.com/images/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu-20-o4ghu-966.webp)

Mixed well, the noodles were spicy-sweet and delicious. It was too spicy for me, but my companion who loves spicy food cleaned the whole bowl. If you're seriously bad with spice, I'd recommend ordering a different soba.

## How does the basil demi tonkatsu taste?

Goshigoshi's basil demi tonkatsu (₩13,900) comes with a generous amount of basil sauce piled on top, yay. The breading was thin and crispy, the meat cooked juicy, and the combination with the basil sauce worked well.

![Basil demi tonkatsu topped generously with basil sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu-21-17rci-966.webp)

![Cross-section of the basil demi tonkatsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu-22-1s1hj-966.webp)

The basil sauce has a fairly strong aroma but wasn't as heavy as I expected, so it went well with the cutlet. Cutting into it, the breading was thin and crispy while the meat was cooked juicy. The meat thickness was just right, not overwhelming to chew, and eating it with the sauce brought out a subtle basil aroma.

![Potato salad side dish served with the tonkatsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu-23-1i8yr-966.webp)

Same side dishes as before. Plus there was an extra potato salad, which was surprisingly really good.

![White rice served with the tonkatsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu/gosigosi-avenue-france-gwangmyeong-basil-katsu-24-184gb-966.webp)

The tonkatsu comes with a bowl of white rice too. It looked small, but the portion was actually pretty generous — I nearly burst.
