On Friday evening, I visited Sasang Paldo Jokbal (사상팔도족발) in Deokpo, Sasang, with my family for jokbal (braised pig’s trotters). We had a large half-and-half jokbal platter with regular jokbal and spicy jokbal, along with self-serve rice balls and makguksu (buckwheat noodles).

## How far is it from Deokpo Station, and where did I park?

The restaurant is on the first floor at 713 Baegyang-daero, Sasang-gu, Busan. It was easy to find along the main road and is about a 10-minute walk from Exit 4 of Deokpo Station. The original post listed hours as 4:00 PM to midnight, with regular closure on Tuesdays.

We parked in the straight alley behind the restaurant. There were marked residential-only parking spaces in the alley, so we avoided those.

## Are there seats suitable for dining with children?

There were nine four-person tables in the dining area. With so many tables, the interior felt spacious.

I was told that tables can be joined together for larger groups.

High chairs were also available. I saw other families dining with children when I visited.

## What jokbal dishes and prices are available?

In addition to regular jokbal, there were spicy jokbal, half-and-half jokbal, and cold jokbal salad. The original post listed these main menu prices at the time of my visit.

- Spicy jokbal: regular ₩25,000, large ₩30,000
- Half-and-half jokbal: regular ₩30,000, large ₩35,000
- Cold jokbal salad: regular ₩30,000, large ₩35,000
- Extra cold-salad vegetables or meat: ₩12,000 each
- Fish cake soup or chive pancake: ₩5,000 each
- Self-serve rice balls: ₩3,000; steamed rice: ₩1,000
- Mil-myeon or steamed dumplings: ₩8,000 each
- Bibim mil-myeon, fried dumplings, or spicy jokbal set meal: ₩9,000 each
- Soju, makgeolli, or beer: ₩4,000 each; soft drinks: ₩2,000

Makguksu was listed as ₩4,000 on the original menu list but ₩5,000 in the order details, so its exact price needs confirmation.

At the time of my visit, there was also a notice saying that a Naver receipt review would receive bibim makguksu or earthenware-pot fish cake soup.

## What came with the meal and at the self-service bar?

The basic spread included dried shredded radish, pickled onions, pickled radish wraps, ssamjang, pickled ginger, salted shrimp, peppers, and lettuce. The side dishes were neatly arranged.

We could get more side dishes from the self-service bar when we ran short.

The self-service bar also had cucumber cold soup, which was not part of the basic spread, so I brought some over. Its sweet-and-sour broth and fresh cucumber flavor whetted my appetite before the jokbal.

Spoons, chopsticks, and tissues were kept in a sliding drawer.

## How were the texture and heat of the half-and-half jokbal?

Half-and-half jokbal lets you eat regular jokbal and spicy jokbal together. We ordered the large size for ₩35,000.

I initially considered the ₩30,000 option, but my husband chose the large. As we ate, I felt we had made the right choice.

I tend to prefer chewy fatty pieces over lean meat. The regular jokbal had plenty of those pieces, which I liked; it was tender yet chewy.

I wrapped the jokbal in lettuce with dried shredded radish. The crunch of the radish went well with the chewy meat.

A staff member paid attention to the meat my child would eat. I remember them bringing extra meat from the bone for my child, saying it was tasty.

The spicy jokbal also had plenty of fatty, tender pieces. It was chewy and savory, but it became spicy as I ate, so I paired it with rice balls.

There were finely chopped lean pieces as well. The meat was well coated in the sweet-and-spicy spicy-jokbal sauce.

## Did the rice balls and makguksu go well with jokbal?

My child shaped the ₩3,000 self-serve rice balls. The seaweed did not smell oily, and the danmuji (yellow pickled radish) was crisp. They were good for taking a bite of when the spicy jokbal became hot.

After enjoying the jokbal and rice balls, we also ordered makguksu.

The makguksu had chewy noodles thoroughly coated in a tangy, spicy sauce. Eaten with the crisp vegetables, it cut through the richness of the jokbal.

## Was there a discount for takeout orders?

At the time of my visit, there was a notice that takeout orders received a ₩2,000 discount. This time we ate in with my child, and I would like to try it as takeout next time.
