On a day when we wanted cold, refreshing noodles, we chose milmyeon too. That’s how we ended up at Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch. If you’re looking for somewhere to eat around Dal-dong, it’s a place worth noticing. I imagine plenty of people traveling in Ulsan wonder where to have lunch, too. When you’re traveling, you often want a meal that feels neat and not too heavy before moving on to the next stop. Since we had our child with us, we put a little thought into our order from the start. Milmyeon is great for adults, but when eating with a child, it’s best to adjust the amount of seasoning. At the time of my visit, regular mul milmyeon was ₩9,500 and the large size was ₩10,500; regular bibim milmyeon was ₩9,500 and the large size was ₩10,500. The dumplings we ordered were ₩6,000. Since the price difference wasn’t large, we ordered large portions of both mul milmyeon and bibim milmyeon for the three of us—my husband, child, and me. We had a large mul milmyeon, a large bibim milmyeon, and dumplings. With all three dishes on the table, it made for quite a hearty lunch spread. Because the three of us were visiting together, we decided to share several dishes rather than each having one. Noodles and toppings sat in a cool broth, and just looking at it gave off that icy feeling. That refreshing broth is really the charm of milmyeon. At first, I tried the broth and noodles without adding the daedaegi. For the mul milmyeon we would share with our child, we asked for the daedaegi on the side. Being able to get it separately meant we could serve our child first, then add seasoning to the remaining noodles to suit the adults’ taste. When you eat out with a child, little details like this are more convenient than you might think. You can eat the same menu while adjusting it to the flavor each person wants. 🤍 Here’s a closer look at the noodles. Maybe because we ordered the large size, the portion looked pretty generous even when I lifted the noodles. It looked clearly different from the mul milmyeon from the start. With seasoned noodles and toppings, it really whetted the appetite. At first it felt milder and cleaner-tasting than I expected, but I kept reaching for it as I ate. The cool flavor of the mul milmyeon and the distinctive seasoned flavor of the bibim milmyeon were so different that I was glad we ordered both. Personally, I think I’d have a hard time choosing just one. Milmyeon alone makes a meal, but putting dumplings on the table made it feel much more abundant. Especially when dining with a child, having one more dish alongside noodles makes sharing easier too. I took a closer photo of the dumplings too. A bite of noodles followed by a dumpling—it was a nice combination. It was different from eating noodles continuously, so they were good to have in between. ## If you’re looking for lunch during an Ulsan trip When you’re planning an Ulsan trip, finding good food matters, but deciding where to have lunch can take some thought too. If you’re looking for a lunch that isn’t too heavy after visiting Ulsan’s attractions, milmyeon is quite a good choice. If you’re looking for good restaurants in Dal-dong, a lunch spot on an Ulsan itinerary, or somewhere nearby while searching for restaurants around Ulsan Terminal, take a look at milmyeon too. Personally, I liked ordering both kinds of milmyeon and alternating between them. With cool mul milmyeon, seasoned bibim milmyeon, and a dumpling or two in between, it was a pretty satisfying lunch for the three of us. What stood out from this meal, especially since we visited with our child, was being able to have the mul milmyeon daedaegi served separately.
