It's on a totally different level from every ganjajang I've tried before, so I genuinely recommend it. They have private rooms too, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a room-style restaurant spot. Whatever else you order, please please try the ganjajang — seriously, highly recommend!! ## Where do you enter the parking lot at Dongbaek? Dongbaek's parking lot is down the slope on the left side of the building. Head down that way and the building's parking lot appears. ## Dongbaek's exterior, private rooms and full venue rental After parking, you go up the stairs and you're right at Dongbaek's entrance. They also offer full venue rental for first birthdays, 60th and 70th birthday parties, wedding receptions, and more. Arrived right after going up the stairs! The exterior already gives off serious Dongsang-dong, Gimhae Chinese restaurant vibes, right? The jasmine tea was hot, so I poured a cup ahead of time and by the time we finished eating it was the perfect temperature. They gave us baby dishes without even having to ask. We requested scissors and got them right away! ## Fresh sirloin tangsuyuk, small, 22,000 won Dongbaek's raw pork sirloin tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) comes in four sizes — mini, small, medium, large — and the small is ₩22,000. We got the regular version (not the set) and figured a small would be enough, but overall the portions here are huge, so by the end of the meal we were genuinely stuffed. The batter felt a bit different from other Chinese restaurants — it clung tightly to the meat, if that makes sense?? Crispy, but with zero gamey meat smell — genuinely delicious tangsuyuk. ## Fried rice, 9,000 won Dongbaek's fried rice is ₩9,000 and comes with jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) broth on the side. The fried rice was solidly good too, and I started thinking, oh, this place is actually great. ## Fresh-meat ganjajang rice, 11,000 won: Dongbaek's final boss Dongbaek's raw pork ganjajang is ₩11,000 and you can choose between noodles or rice. I ordered rice, and it came out at about the same time as the fried rice. My boyfriend and I were both like, what is this? The portion is way too much, right? And there's so much meat in it too — we talked about it as we went. I poured the ganjajang over the rice. The volume suddenly ballooned and I was a little taken aback, but I mixed it all together anyway. But wait, the meat in this is seriously seriously seriously!! way too much. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say they just dumped meat all over it. All the other dishes were good too, but the ganjajang is on another level entirely. Genuinely the #1 I've ever had. The raw pork ganjajang lets you choose noodles or rice, so just go with your preference — either way, please please try this. Seriously, highly recommend! ## Is Dongbaek worth a trip to Dongsang-dong? Overall, the food at Dongbaek was above average across the board, and most of all the raw pork ganjajang is so good that I strongly recommend it, haha. Also recommended for anyone looking for a room-style Chinese restaurant in Gimhae!! Genuinely a Dongsang-dong favorite!!
