## In short

Hiku is a quiet izakaya in Dongjak, Seoul, a 3-minute walk from Sadang Station Exit 10 through the Starbucks alley. Over dinner and drinks with my sister, we ordered the bazaar chadol (beef brisket) stir-fried udon and the raw salmon sashimi, and the slightly exotic spice notes of the udon went well with the thick-cut salmon. Hiku is one of the calmer bars near Sadang Station for talking over a drink instead of shouting over a crowd.

A cozy izakaya in Sadang with a warm, date-friendly atmosphere: Hiku.

Looking for somewhere to grab dinner and a light drink with my sister after a while, I ended up at Hiku in Sadang~ There are tons of restaurants and bars around Sadang Station, but it's actually not easy to find a place where you can relax and chat over drinks. Hiku had a great vibe and friendly staff, so I really liked it and wanted to recommend it :)

- By subway: Sadang Station Exit 10 → into the Starbucks alley, about 3 minutes on foot
- By bus: Get off near Sadang Station and it's a short walk from there

Signature dishes include: yurinji, fried chicken with a fragrant soy sauce that's sweet, tangy, and mouthwatering just to look at. Raw salmon sashimi made from Norwegian salmon prepped the same day, soft and fresh in flavor. And Hiku's 1++ grade 9 Korean beef yukhoe, prepped the same day with house-made soy sauce for a fresh, deep flavor.

The menu variety is nice, but personally, when picking a bar, I prefer places where you can talk comfortably rather than somewhere too loud — and Hiku was satisfying on that front. The staff were friendly, which gave a great first impression, and having gender-separated indoor restrooms was also convenient. If you want to have both a meal and drinks in one go on a date in Sadang, go for it!

*Bazaar chadol stir-fried udon*

## What does the bazaar beef brisket stir-fried udon taste like?

The dish I was most curious about that day was Hiku's bazaar chadol (beef brisket) stir-fried udon. According to the menu description, it's savory chadol and chewy udon noodles stir-fried with a special soy sauce and spices!?

It felt a bit different from your typical stir-fried udon, and I was curious~ The savory taste of the chadol combined with the special soy sauce, and there was a subtle spice flavor throughout haha. The udon noodles were chewy and soaked up the sauce well, and eating it together with the chadol made it work well both as a meal and as a drinking snack.

Since I love noodle dishes in particular, I always get a little excited when I see a stir-fried udon on the menu. It felt like a familiar stir-fried udon but with a slightly exotic twist thanks to the spices, which I loved :) Pairing it with a lighter dish like the raw salmon sashimi was a good combination too.

## Thick-cut raw salmon sashimi at Hiku

One of the dishes we ordered at Hiku that day was the raw salmon sashimi! Seeing the thick-cut slices of salmon, it looked delicious just by the visuals.. 🧡 Taking a bite, the soft, moist texture was great. You could taste the savory, clean flavor unique to salmon, and it went really well as a drinking snack too~

Personally, I prefer salmon cut moderately thick like this rather than very thin slices, so it was easy to enjoy piece by piece~ Cold raw salmon sashimi paired with a cool drink is a combo that never fails haha.

## Who should visit Hiku in Sadang?

Hiku seems like a great fit for anyone looking for a quiet izakaya near Sadang Station. The calm atmosphere is good for chatting on a date, and it's also a fine spot for a light drink with friends.
