## In short

Cheongnyeon Dakbal 1987 Hongdae Branch is a chicken feet bar in Mapo, Seoul, that has lasted ten years in the Hongdae food alley with both indoor seats and terrace pocha tables outside. On a Friday evening at an outdoor table, the writer ordered the Cheongnyeon Dakbal Set (42,000 won) with boneless chicken feet, which comes with kalguksu noodles, rice balls and fried chicken skin, then finished with vanilla pine sherbet (8,000 won). The heat sits at about Shin Ramyun level, so even spice-shy drinkers can enjoy a plate with a shot of soju.

It's Friday and my friend got off work early? Time for soju! We're lightweights but we love a drink haha. Enjoying it on the terrace at Hongdae bar "Cheongnyeon Dakbal 1987 Hongdae Branch" is so romantic, and the weather was cool too, total healing vibes. It was already packed even in the early evening~~~ The Cheongnyeon Dakbal Set was so filling we stuffed ourselves, and chatting over soju was just so nice!!!

## What are the terrace pocha tables at Cheongnyeon Dakbal 1987 like?

Cheongnyeon Dakbal 1987 Hongdae Branch runs indoor seats along with terrace pocha (street tent-style) tables outside. There's plenty of table space, great for group gatherings, and the outdoor tables give it that breezy pocha feel.

There are seats inside, but the terrace pocha tables give it that outdoor drinking vibe, and with the cool weather it was perfect!!! It's a chicken feet spot that's survived ten years in the Hongdae food alley, so it fills up even from the early 4-5pm opening. While we were eating, people kept wandering in off the street and seats filled right up. We lucked out with one spot left, got seated quickly, and could just enjoy the atmosphere and order what we wanted right away~

## What comes in the 42,000-won Cheongnyeon Dakbal Set with boneless chicken feet

The Cheongnyeon Dakbal Set (₩42,000) is a set that comes piled on a silver tray with chicken feet, rice balls, mukbap jelly, fried chicken skin, and kalguksu noodles. You can choose between soup chicken feet or boneless chicken feet — boneless is easier to eat and has that great crunchy texture~~~

The Cheongnyeon Dakbal Set arrived — can you see the silver tray piled with chicken feet, rice balls, mukbap jelly, fried chicken skin, and kalguksu noodles all in one set??? It's generous and satisfying, so I'd recommend it for eating with friends! If you're still hungry while drinking, just add a side, and if you're a big eater, order this!

## How spicy are the boneless chicken feet? About Shin Ramyun level

The broth on the boneless chicken feet at Cheongnyeon Dakbal 1987 Hongdae Branch looks fiery but sits right at Shin Ramyun spice level — spicy in a delicious way, so even spice-shy people could handle it. The chicken feet are plump and chewy, the collagen full of smoky char flavor, and biting into it fills your mouth with flavor — that familiar taste that gets you every time, watching it made me drool.

### Chicken feet wrapped in perilla leaves, rice balls mixed at the table

Wrapping it in perilla leaves or pairing it with rice balls — no need to say more~ I used to like shaping the rice balls into neat little rounds, but honestly it's tastier just mixing it all up and eating it with a spoon out of laziness! Pile on the chicken feet, add mayo to soothe the heat, and it relieves stress and makes the perfect drinking snack — how great is that~

I wanted to do a proper toast, but ended up just filming it randomly~ My friend went along with a confused "huh?!" — so thankful for that haha.

### Kalguksu noodles cooked in the chicken feet broth

If you don't eat the kalguksu noodles fast enough the broth disappears, but there's also this trick — dunk them straight into the chicken feet broth and slurp them up~

Even full, the fried chicken skin was so good I kept eating it — the crispy texture is irresistible and really satisfying!!!

## Vanilla pine sherbet to cool down the spice

To finish off the spicy chicken feet, we ordered vanilla pine sherbet for ₩8,000. As lightweights, we wanted something refreshing with our drinks, so we got the vanilla pine sherbet, and it melted right in the mouth~!

![Vanilla pine sherbet ordered for dessert](https://img.superchart.com/images/hongdae-yajang-chicken-feet-sherbet/hongdae-yajang-chicken-feet-sherbet-19-1oz4v-900.webp)

Ahh~ the soju tasted so sweet that day~ drunk on chicken feet, drunk on the atmosphere, drunk on the refreshing sherbet~ I came to have a drink after dinner, but the chicken feet were so good my hand kept reaching for more even when full?! I'm a lightweight so the next day was rough, but I couldn't stop~ Chatting away with my friend over good food, time flew by, it was so fun, and I was sad to have to go home... aw.

They also have their own soft, sweet makgeolli, pineapple soju blended with whole pineapple, and even a Del Monte cocktail. Have a great time drinking with chicken feet!
