## In short

Yugwanjang Banjeom Omokgyo Station Branch is a Chinese restaurant in Mokdong, Yangcheon, Seoul, newly opened on the second floor of the building right in front of Exit 2 of Omokgyo Station. On a weekday lunch, sundubu jjampong (spicy seafood noodle soup with soft tofu), mini tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and a zero-sugar cola were ordered from the table kiosk, and even a diner who cannot handle heat finished the spicy broth thanks to the mellow soft tofu. I had a weekday lunch at Yugwanjang Banjeom Omokgyo Station Branch, a newly opened jjampong (spicy seafood noodle soup) spot in Mokdong, Omokgyo. The place is fresh and clean since it just opened, and both the jjampong and the Chinese dishes were satisfying — a great meal overall!

## Inside Yugwanjang Banjeom: a Mokdong restaurant with private rooms

The inside of Yugwanjang Banjeom Omokgyo Station Branch had a stylish, comfortable wood-toned atmosphere, and since it has a private room, I'd recommend it for private group dinners or family meals. The friendly owner and staff greeted us warmly 😊 The air conditioning was nice and cool too.

## Jjampong options and how table kiosk ordering works

Orders at Yugwanjang could be placed right at the table through a kiosk.

True to being a jjampong spot in Mokdong, there were so many types — real bone-broth seafood jjampong, spicy chili jjampong, beef jjampong, sundubu jjampong, and more! So many unique, distinctive jjampongs that I wanted to try them all 😍

There was also a wide range of rice and noodle dishes like fried rice, jjajangmyeon, and mapo tofu rice bowl, plus Chinese dishes like tangsuyuk, yurinki, and kanpungi (spicy fried chicken). I especially liked that they had a mini tangsuyuk so you could share a dish lightly alongside your meal.

I ordered the sundubu jjampong, mini tangsuyuk, and a zero-sugar cola ✨️ I was excited to try the jjampong at this Mokdong jjampong spot!

The side dishes came out right away. Crisp, fresh danmuji (pickled radish) and jjajai (pickled mustard). You can refill the side dishes at the self-serve bar.

## How spicy is the soft tofu jjampong at Yugwanjang Banjeom?

Yugwanjang's sundubu jjampong was packed with fresh seafood, vegetables, and big chunks of soft tofu, and the portion was generous. The dishes came out quickly — the sundubu jjampong and mini tangsuyuk arrived piping hot. Chinese food is delicious even packed or delivered, but eating it freshly cooked right at the restaurant like this really is the best ☺️

The sundubu jjampong and mini tangsuyuk came out steaming hot right away. The portion was big enough to leave me full. Generous serving and a mix of ingredients made it a hit visually too 😍

The ingredients were fresh, so the texture was great and it was really delicious. I'm pretty spice-shy and can't handle spicy food well, but eating the spicy jjampong together with the mellow soft tofu hit the spot perfectly! The sundubu jjampong also had plenty of fresh seafood like squid and shrimp, which I loved.

## Mini tangsuyuk that is anything but mini

Yugwanjang's mini tangsuyuk had such a generous portion that the word 'mini' felt misleading 😲👍 Tangsuyuk fresh out of the fryer needs no introduction — properly fried crisp-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside, savory and delicious. The pork quality was good too, so the texture was tender rather than chewy, and dipping it in the separately served sweet, thick sauce made it deliciously sweet and tangy ☺️

Paired with the spicy sundubu jjampong, it was the perfect combo! I kept reaching for the tangsuyuk over and over ❤️

From the deep flavor of the seafood to the appeal of the savory soft tofu, the sundubu jjampong delivered it all. A perfect weekday lunch.

Yugwanjang Banjeom Omokgyo Station Branch, a new jjampong spot in Mokdong Omokgyo, was a fresh find in the neighborhood with a friendly owner and delicious Chinese dishes ☺️ I'd recommend this Mokdong private-room restaurant for family meals or group dinners in Mokdong.
