A Namyangju outdoor terrace café where we could relax and enjoy brunch while looking out at the Bukhan River.

Whenever I drive toward Namyangju, I naturally end up looking for a café near the Bukhan River. It's not too far from Seoul, yet the scenery feels completely different from downtown, and on a nice day, just having coffee or brunch outdoors makes it feel like a proper outing.

This time I visited MR, a Namyangju brunch café where you can enjoy brunch with the Bukhan River right in front of you. The indoor space had a clean look, but what I personally liked most was the spacious outdoor seating. Eating a bacon cheeseburger, carbonara, and coffee while looking out at the river, I understood why people drive all the way out to the Seoul outskirts for brunch like this.

## Where is MR, and what are its hours and parking?

MR is located on Bukhangang-ro in Namyangju. It sits right near the Bukhan River, so you can enjoy a great view. It's open from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and closed every Monday and Tuesday. It's also listed as open during the Chuseok holiday, so it seems like a good Namyangju café to visit over the holidays. Given the location, you'll need a car to get there, but the parking lot is well set up, so parking was easy.

The first thing that caught my eye when I arrived at MR was the stylishly decorated entrance and the sheer size of the place. It's a scene you don't easily see at a café in the city, and it really gave off that feeling of being out at a café on the outskirts of Seoul.

There's a large mirror near the entrance that naturally works as a photo spot. Since the green scenery around it is reflected in the mirror too, it's a great place to snap a memorable photo. And right at MR's entrance, I spotted a cute cat — gentle like a house cat. It was sitting there almost like it was MR's mascot.

At this Namyangju café, MR, you'll also come across a variety of plants. I couldn't confirm whether they're for sale, but there were enough potted plants to make you believe it was a flower shop.

### Can you bring kids and dogs to MR?

MR has baby chairs available and is also a Namyangju dog-friendly café where you can bring your dog along. Cute little props are placed throughout, which made looking around the café fun in itself. Baby chairs were well set up too, and I saw quite a few families dining with children. I also saw several groups with dogs that day, and since both the 1st floor indoor and outdoor spaces are dog-friendly, it seems like a good spot for people driving out toward the Bukhan River with their dog.

## MR's indoor window seats and the shaded Bukhan River terrace

MR's indoor space has a clean, modern feel. With plants and wood-toned props, it gave off a natural, comfortable vibe. The window side has floor-to-ceiling windows for enjoying the view, so even though we arrived fairly early, the window seats were already full.

No need to feel disappointed just because the window seats were full, though — this Namyangju café, MR, has really well set-up outdoor seating. The Bukhan River spreads out right in front of the café, and the tables face that view, so just sitting there lets you soak in the calm. On days with strong sun it can feel a bit hot, but there are also shaded spots, and that's where we sat. With a light breeze while looking out at the Bukhan River, we could really feel that Seoul-outskirts café atmosphere you just can't get indoors.

There was also a fire pit on one side of the outdoor space. It wasn't in use when we visited, but from the traces of use, it seems like you can enjoy watching the fire at night. If daytime is for the green scenery and Bukhan River view, once the sun starts to set, it seems like you'd get an even calmer, more emotional atmosphere.

## MR's brunch menu: bacon cheeseburger and carbonara

This Namyangju brunch café, MR, is mainly built around brunch and drink menu items. We each ordered an iced Americano and a strawberry latte, and both went well with the food we ordered.

The brunch dishes we ordered that day were a bacon cheeseburger and carbonara. MR has a wide range of burger and pasta options, so we thought hard about what to order, and ended up going with the most familiar, hard-to-go-wrong combination. The bacon cheeseburger, with its thick patty, bacon, and cheese, looked hearty even before the first bite. Eating all the ingredients together in one bite, the meaty flavor, salty bacon, and savory cheese blended naturally, making for a filling lunch. The carbonara also had a thick, savory cream flavor that lived up to expectations. The food was good, but being able to eat leisurely outdoors while looking at the Bukhan River view was MR's biggest draw.

Our food and drinks, all set up on the table. I think one reason people come all the way out to the Seoul outskirts for brunch is exactly this — being able to relax at an outdoor table. Sitting in the cool outdoor air and eating while looking at the river, we really got to enjoy the leisure of a weekend.

## Is MR in Namyangju worth the drive?

MR turned out to be a Namyangju brunch café where the food, space, and Bukhan River view all came together nicely. The neatly decorated indoor space was nice, but personally, the time I spent enjoying brunch on the spacious outdoor terrace while looking at the Bukhan River is what stuck with me most. Parking was easy, it's a good environment to visit with kids, and there's no problem bringing a dog along either, so I think it's a great café for anyone planning a Namyangju drive with family, a partner, or a dog. If you want to relax over a burger or pasta while taking in a beautiful Bukhan River view on a nice day, this Namyangju café, MR, is worth a visit.
