## In short

PT Studio Byeonhwa (피티스튜디오 변화) is a 1:1 personal training studio on Magok-jungang-ro, near Magoknaru Station in Gangseo, Seoul. The first session at PT Studio Byeonhwa covered an InBody scan and posture assessment, upper-body release and passive stretching, then lat pulldowns, seated rows and trapezius work; the second session started with postpartum core and glute activation through dead bugs and Bulgarian split squats. Coach Hun also shared tips that carry over to solo workouts, which made the studio a good fit for anyone training for the first time.

If you're already at the level where you can work out on your own, a big gym with lots of machines might be great — but for someone like me who's still learning the ropes, a small 1:1 PT studio actually seems to fit better.

## What is PT Studio Byeonhwa, the 1:1 studio near Magoknaru Station, like?

> A private, 1:1-only PT studio

![Private PT space with only essential equipment](https://img.superchart.com/images/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture-03-2e8fm-900.webp)

PT Studio Byeonhwa (변화, meaning "change"), the Magongnaru PT studio I visited this time, was exactly that kind of place. With only the essential equipment for 1:1 sessions, the biggest advantage was that the coach could focus entirely on one person at a time.

Inside the changing room there's even a separate single-person shower, so I could focus entirely on the workout without worrying about anyone else.

## First session: InBody scan and posture assessment

> A first session that began with a posture assessment

The first session started with an InBody scan and posture assessment. I usually have a lot of discomfort in my upper body, so it was great that we talked through priorities and the coach explained the direction of the sessions beforehand.

One thing that felt a bit different from other places was that we didn't jump straight into exercise — the body was thoroughly loosened up first.

Before the actual workout, the coach released tension across the neck, chest, back, and arms, then moved into passive stretching before the main exercises, so I could start in a much lighter, looser state.

## Upper-body workout: lat pulldown, seated row and trapezius work

> Learning to feel the upper-body movements

![Upper-body training starting with the lat pulldown](https://img.superchart.com/images/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture-08-1p6wc-900.webp)

The real upper-body workout began with lat pulldowns. I usually find it hard to feel my lats engage, but Coach Hoon explained it so clearly that I felt much more activation than before. In particular, my left shoulder tends to move a little less, causing the bar to tilt to one side, so I focused on pulling slightly more with the left side to keep the bar level. It wasn't easy having to think about so many points at once, but I slowly started to get a sense of which muscles I needed to use.

Next was the seated row. In the past, being told to "squeeze your shoulder blades" never really made sense to me, but this time I clearly felt my back tightening, which felt pretty satisfying.

Finally, we moved on to mid and lower trapezius work, where the key was to squeeze the shoulder blades first and let the arms follow naturally, rather than pulling with the arms. It reminded me how much these small differences can change the effectiveness of a movement.

## How was the lower-body workout adapted for a postpartum body?

![Preparing for lower-body training in the second session](https://img.superchart.com/images/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture-09-1pp6o-900.webp)

The second session focused mainly on lower-body training. Since the pelvic floor and core can both weaken after childbirth, we started with exercises to activate the core and glutes first.

![Dead bug core exercise using a towel](https://img.superchart.com/images/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture-10-617fw-900.webp)

We started with dead bugs, and the coach showed me how to place a towel under my lower back and press down so it doesn't slip out. Keeping the towel in place made me feel my core engage much more strongly, and it was easier to understand than doing it on my own. These small tips were genuinely helpful.

![Hamstring activation exercise](https://img.superchart.com/images/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture-12-1g1ft-900.webp)

![Glute activation exercise](https://img.superchart.com/images/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture-13-a19ck-900.webp)

![Finishing with the Bulgarian split squat](https://img.superchart.com/images/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture/magoknaru-pt-studio-byeonhwa-posture-14-hwq3q-900.webp)

After that, we moved through hamstring activation and glute activation exercises in sequence, finishing with Bulgarian split squats.

In particular, when I set up the hip hinge first and then thought of pulling the pelvis upward, I could really feel the strength engage in my glutes. This used to be a move that only tired out my legs, but learning to accurately use the target muscle made the exercise so much more enjoyable.

## Personal training that teaches you how to work out on your own

What I found most satisfying about this experience was that it wasn't just PT focused on hitting a rep count. The coach explained why we were doing each exercise, thoroughly loosened up the body first, and then connected that into the workout, which made everything much easier to understand.

Above all, what I liked most was that the coach kept sharing tips I could apply on my own during solo workouts, helping me build the ability to train myself as well. If you're looking to start body correction and strength training together like I did, I'd recommend PT Studio Byeonhwa near Magongnaru. With a 1:1 setup that allows for highly focused sessions, it's a great fit even for people who are just starting to learn how to work out. I'm hoping to keep practicing the movements I learned at this Magongnaru PT studio and see real change in my body over time.
