## In short

Mano di Chef Samsung Branch is an Italian restaurant on the B1 floor of Dongsung Building, across the street from the Hyundai Department Store at Coex in Gangnam, Seoul. Before taking two children to the aquarium, lunch here was a 150g Korean beef striploin steak, a gorgonzola pizza and orange ade, costing in the ₩100,000 range for three people. With stroller storage and staff advice on steak doneness, Mano di Chef Samsung Branch is an easy choice for a meal with kids.

Today's find

Today I'm bringing you a review of Mano di Chef Samsung Branch, known as a go-to restaurant near Samsung Station and Coex. I'd booked it for a solid lunch with the kids before heading to the Coex Aquarium after their culture center class.

Traffic on the way out was so bad that I pushed the reservation back 30 minutes, and then parking alone took another 30 minutes, so we ended up arriving a full 30 minutes late overall. I was really grateful the staff kept our table instead of canceling it.

We brought a stroller, and they stored it separately by the entrance, which made things much easier. The kids got excited the moment we walked in, saying it was such a nice-looking restaurant. My eldest, being an elementary schooler, managed some manners, but my youngest got so thrilled she started shouting, which had me sweating a bit haha 😅 It's recently gotten popular as a go-to spot for bisque pasta near Coex, so I had high expectations going in.

## Where is Mano di Chef Samsung Branch? Across from Hyundai Department Store at Coex

The address is 21 Teheran-ro 87-gil, B1 Dongsung Building, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It's directly across the street from the main entrance of Hyundai Department Store at Coex, so it's not hard to find.

Searching for restaurants near Samsung Station will get you there easily, and it's within walking distance of Coex Mall, making it a convenient stop before or after the aquarium or Starfield Library.

## Opening hours and break times by day of the week

Business hours vary a bit depending on the day, so it's worth checking before you go.

- Saturday 11:00–21:30, break 15:50–17:00, last order 14:50 / 20:30
- Sunday 11:00–21:00, break 15:50–17:00, last order 14:50 / 20:00
- Monday–Wednesday 11:00–21:30, break 15:00–17:00, last order 14:00 / 20:30

For reference, on the Thursday we visited (9/24) they ran shortened hours of 11:00–21:00 for Chuseok holiday, and were closed the following Friday (9/25) for Chuseok, so around major holidays it's best to check ahead. Phone number and real-time reservations are available on Naver Place.

## Parking near Coex can take 30 minutes at weekend lunch

There's on-site parking, so driving there is fairly convenient. That said, as a well-known spot near Coex, the lot gets busy with foot traffic and cars during weekend lunch hours — we actually parked at Coex instead, and even that took nearly 30 minutes, ugh.

I'd recommend leaving 20–30 minutes early just in case, and if you do run late, calling ahead seems to get you some flexibility, so keep that in mind.

## Room for strollers and high chairs inside Mano di Chef

From the entrance, the place has a sleek, put-together tone, and the tables are spaced generously enough that a stroller or kid's chair never felt like it was in the way. With its soft lighting, it felt like a great spot both for a nice date night and for a family meal with kids — genuinely the kind of well-reviewed restaurant near Coex people talk about.

Let me walk through some of Mano di Chef Samsung Branch's signature dishes in more detail.

- Carrot purée & octopus gnocchi ₩31,900 — a signature gnocchi with sautéed octopus over a smooth carrot purée made in-house by the chef
- Steak & carrot hummus plate ₩29,900 — a main plate combining steak, carrot hummus, carrot slaw, and a gently spicy sriracha mayo sauce
- Red shrimp bisque linguine ₩33,900 — a signature pasta topped with wild red shrimp and octopus over a rich bisque sauce simmered from wild red shrimp for hours
- Red shrimp aglio olio pasta ₩31,900 — plump wild red shrimp with garlic, chili flakes, and olive oil for a clean, simple flavor
- Gamtae pesto & octopus gnocchi ₩31,900 — flavorful gnocchi with tender octopus over a gamtae (seaweed) pesto sauce made with special gorgonzola
- Chamsong mushroom cream gnocchi ₩28,900 — chewy homemade gnocchi paired with a chamsong mushroom cream sauce
- Gamtae pesto & seafood barley risotto ₩32,900 — barley risotto in gamtae pesto with tender scallops, shrimp, and octopus
- Mano di Chef signature course ₩89,900 — a premium course built around Korean beef steak
- Gorgonzola pizza ₩29,900 — an authentic Italian pizza with DOP-grade Italian gorgonzola cheese, French camembert, and chewy handmade dough
- Korean beef striploin steak 150g ₩59,900 — top-grade Korean beef wet-aged over 20 days, grilled to order from medium rare to well done

To minimize juice loss, they let the steak rest 5–10 minutes after grilling before serving, so it comes out warm rather than piping hot. Thanks to that step, you really get the full juiciness and tenderness.

## What we ordered: 150g Korean beef striploin steak and gorgonzola pizza

We ordered the 150g Korean beef striploin steak, the gorgonzola pizza, and two glasses of orange ade.

![Two large glasses of orange ade](https://img.superchart.com/images/manodichef-samsung-kids-steak-pizza/manodichef-samsung-kids-steak-pizza-10-pwsfe-966.webp)

We'd originally planned to order just one orange ade, but my youngest insisted she wanted her own, so we added a second. The staff asked whether the portions would be enough with kids at the table, but I said we'd be fine since my kids don't eat huge amounts. I was secretly worried the portions might be small, but nope — plenty for everyone.

I've been running this blog for a few years now, and one of the reasons I go around writing about restaurants is to find foods my kids actually like and help build up their range of eating habits.

### Eating steak with kids: order medium well, not well done

The nicely sliced, well-grilled steak was the signature dish of the day and the one I was glad we ordered. I honestly hadn't read the menu closely and assumed it was American beef, but it turned out to be Korean beef — which made it taste even better once I realized.

We've made a lot of good memories eating out over the years, but today, hearing my eldest confidently say for herself "I like steak" while digging in made me really proud. My youngest ate well too, and between the two of them, the kids ended up finishing almost the whole steak.

We'd originally planned to order it well done, but the staff advised that well done can be tough for kids, so we switched to medium well, and I'm glad we did. The kids, who'd said they were full and it tasted better the more they ate, went right back in to finish it.

### Gorgonzola pizza topped with a whole camembert

The gorgonzola pizza had a whole camembert wheel sitting right in the center, and the cheese was so generous it felt way better than your average gorgonzola pizza. I already like pizza in general, but Mano di Chef's gorgonzola pizza was especially good when you dipped the camembert in honey.

The orange ade leaned sweet rather than tart, so both the kids and I enjoyed it — the glass was so huge we ended up pouring it into smaller cups to share. By the time we finished, we were completely full, which made for the perfect meal before heading into the aquarium.

## Verdict: 100,000 won range for three, and easy dining with children

For three people, the bill lands somewhere in the ₩100,000-range, which isn't cheap, but you can feel it in the quality of the ingredients and the care the chef puts in. The biggest strength here was the cooking that let the ingredients' natural flavors shine, plus genuinely thoughtful service for guests with kids.

What stuck with me most was how they held our table despite our late arrival and even took care of our stroller — it made for a really comfortable meal. If you're looking for a restaurant near Coex or Samsung Station, this is a place I'd recommend without hesitation, even with kids in tow.
