## In short

Joajukne Jjukkumi is a Korean restaurant in Jungnang, Seoul, serving spicy jjukkumi-and-bulgogi hot pot. We filled out the large hot pot with glass noodles and knife-cut noodles, then added steamed egg and fried rice. Verdict: a satisfying shared dinner with plenty of add-ons to choose from.

## The fun of choosing everything from hot pot to add-ons

> Main dishes, individual dishes, sides, alcoholic drinks

The main dish is jjubul jeongol, a hot pot with jjukkumi (webfoot octopus) and bulgogi (marinated beef), but there were also individual dishes such as basic jjukkumi, jjussam, and Nunchi Jjukkumi. There were lots of set menus with assorted add-ons too, so this seems like a great choice if you are torn between several things! There were plenty of extras as well, so you can just add more of whatever you loved while eating.

I do not think I have ever seen a place with this many different add-ons! They were reasonably priced too, so it was easy to order more without feeling burdened. There was even a special gift listed at the very bottom, which seems like a nice way to end the meal on a good note. I am exactly the kind of person who gets touched by little details like that... They have a wide selection of alcohol too, including Saero Omija, which we really enjoyed, so I recommend this place to anyone looking for it!

## Self-serve bar and banchan

A variety of banchan (Korean side dishes) came with the meal, which made it extra enjoyable. Anything else we needed was available at the self-serve bar, so it was nice to help ourselves without worrying about asking. The mayo sauce was especially my style and sooo good.

## How was the large spicy jjubul hot pot?

There were so many menu items, but we went for the large spicy jjubul hot pot at the very top of the list! I had always had jjukkumi stir-fried, so I was really curious because I had only just learned it could come as a hot pot. True to its name, it had both jjukkumi and bulgogi, making it a hearty meal. The broth had a lovely spicy kick, so I kept reaching for the hot soup. The jjukkumi was pleasantly springy too, and once we added glass noodles and knife-cut noodles, it was the perfect amount for a group.

## A relaxed atmosphere with baseball on TV

The restaurant mostly had tables for four, with a relaxed atmosphere that would suit friends or families. They also had a TV playing on one wall, so it was fun to eat while watching sports. They had baseball on, and it was sooo nice to eat while following the game.

## Puffy steamed egg and fried rice, too

We ordered steamed egg too, and it arrived like a total explosion...!! I had never seen steamed egg puffed up this dramatically before, and I totally recommend it. It was soft and fluffy with no fishy smell, and it naturally made me say, wow, this place really knows what it is doing...

After finishing everything, we made fried rice as our final course. There was sneakily quite a lot of rice, so I nearly burst, but I still cleaned my bowl... It was just too delicious!!! I wanted to introduce this place because we ate so well.

If you are looking for a good dinner near Sangbong Station or in Sangbong's food alley, I recommend this spot. It is great not only for jjukkumi lovers; the many extra dishes make it easy to choose what you want. There are outdoor tables too, so it would be a nice setting for a drink in the cool breeze. It is right on the main road and easy to find, and I would definitely come back next time.
