We were craving meat so badly, so first things first: order the suyuk~~ The gabri-sal was nicely chewy and seriously good. Though I think the flavor would have been even more savory if the kimchi had been stir-fried kimchi. The meat was gently boiled until tender, clean with no off smell, and pleasantly moist to chew! Paired with the radish kimchi served alongside it, the mild meat and tart tang came together so deliciously. This time, we ordered the signature algoni jang kalguksu and suyuk. The algoni jang kalguksu made an impression right away with how generously piled it looked ㅠㅠ The broth was thick, and the red soup was generously filled with roe and fish milt, giving it that deep, rich seafood savoriness. It wasn’t overly spicy—just wonderfully refreshing!! Unlike ordinary kalguksu, its broth is based on fermented soybean paste, so the deep flavor really comes through. It was spicy-warming without being harsh, and I kept scooping up more broth. Jang kalguksu is originally a local Gangwon-do dish known for its earthy jang flavor and pleasantly spicy broth, and this place captures that charm so well! I’m kidnapping you. You’ve made it onto my restaurant list hahaha. Overall, it’s absolutely worth visiting if you’re looking for a good place to eat near Yeoksam Station. Most of all, the restaurant was fairly quiet, so it was nice for conversation. The music wasn’t too loud either! From the rich algoni jang kalguksu broth and chewy noodles to the tender suyuk, nothing felt lacking.. This is the kind of place I’ll especially think of on a rainy or chilly day.
