We wanted something delicious and a relaxed meal in a nice atmosphere, so we headed to Oseuseu (오스스, OSS) in Pocheon. What we ordered that day was - House steak - Aged kimchi pasta with meat crumbs - Shrimp pilaf Three dishes total! Tucked inside a Pocheon alley Oseuseu sits at 33 Wangbang-ro 118beon-gil, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, 1st floor — not on the main road but down an alley. When we first got near the area, honestly I thought, "there's a restaurant around here?" haha. But walking a bit further into the alley, the pretty OSS sign came into view and it was like, "oh! here it is!" The front of the building wasn't just a pass-through space either — it was decorated nicely with plants, lighting, and a wood deck. When we arrived at Oseuseu, it was still before noon, so at first there were only about two tables of guests. It works as a Pocheon date spot, and it was just as comfortable for a family meal with our kid like ours. From the moment I saw it on the menu, I was most curious — aged kimchi (mukeunji, fermented cabbage kimchi) and pasta, what would that even taste like? It had that familiar savory taste Koreans would love — kind of like the well-cooked kimchi you get in a kimchi pancake. That's when it's absolutely at its best! Haha. The three dishes had completely different flavors, so we kept alternating between them. A bite of meat, then a bite of the kimchi pasta, then a spoonful of shrimp pilaf in between! Best of all, it wasn't just one dish that was good — all three were satisfying. If it's your first visit to Oseuseu, I'd especially recommend the aged kimchi pasta with meat crumbs. Combining the familiar aged kimchi with pasta felt refreshingly different, yet still very familiar to a Korean palate. The atmosphere is pretty too, comfortable for a family meal with kids, and also nice for a date — so if you're looking for Western food in Pocheon, a Pocheon restaurant, or a Pocheon date spot, I'd recommend giving this a try. There's plenty to see around Pocheon too, so if you get hungry while out exploring, drop by for a meal!
