My favorite brunch café in Anseong Gongdo, Chat Baker. Parking's easy here, the food is delicious ♥︎ and honestly the space itself is just gorgeous. The weather's been nice lately so I thought of a café with an outdoor terrace and wide open views, and off I went haha.

## Where to sit at Chat Baker: the second-floor railing seats over the water curtain

Every seat looks pretty whether you sit on the 1st or 2nd floor, and there aren't many LP (vinyl record) cafés in Anseong so you get to enjoy the music too, hehe. Toward the back of the 2nd floor there's a floor-seating area with a lush green view that looks super comfortable. My spot is always by the railing upstairs, watching the water curtain flowing down the window~

## Chat Baker's bread counter and the condensed milk cream salt bread

As befits what's probably the most famous large bakery in Gongdo, there's a huge variety of cakes and breads, and honestly everything looks delicious. Plus the bread case opens and closes with an automatic door so the bread stays fresh and tastes even better.

Especially the salt bread!! Why do I love salt bread so much? There are several kinds, but that day I was craving a cream one so I picked the condensed milk cream salt bread. It was sweet and soft, exactly the sugar charge I needed — recommended~

And for coffee, the vanilla bean latte~ it suited a lazy weekend afternoon perfectly. Even a single cup of coffee came out so pretty here, great for photos hehe.

## Chat Baker brunch, part one: mentaiko oil pasta

The brunch here is also excellent — every time I come I eat the pasta and enjoy it thoroughly. The spicy version of the tomato seafood pasta is great too, but this time I went with the mentaiko oil pasta! Though the mushroom perilla oil pasta is really my type too. This place has excellent taste in menu curation,,

Ta-da~ just looking at the mentaiko oil pasta makes me happy. The mentaiko (seasoned pollock roe) sits cutely in the center, and you can see a few big, plump shrimp too. Mix the mentaiko through everything and eat — the seasoning and noodle doneness were both perfect...!

As the mentaiko mixes into the sauce, you get little salty bites of it with every forkful of pasta? That harmony was really good. Normally with oil-based pasta I just fish out the noodles, but here the oil sauce turns slightly creamy, so it's delicious even spooned up on its own.

### Part two: Johnsonville rosé cream pasta

There are pasta+risotto and pasta+gnocchi combos too, but we're pasta people, so we ordered two pastas. The second was the Johnsonville rosé cream pasta. Why I picked it: I figured Johnsonville sausage would be good. In a smooth cream-and-tomato base sauce topped with salty sausage — an unmissable combo~

Can you see how the noodles have soaked up all that sauce? How do they make pasta this well... Everyone, don't just eat the bread, order the brunch menu too. Chat Baker, the Anseong Gongdo café for great pasta, that's what it is.

## Dessert after the pasta: mocha cream bread and vanilla bean latte

The perk of a place that sells both food and bread...! You can finish your meal and still tackle dessert round two. One piece of bread is never enough anyway. We got mocha cream bread, but our pick was the condensed milk cream salt bread. Crisp on the outside, soft inside, and the rich sweet cream paired really well with the salt bread.

## Weekend live music and the LP-shaped tea coaster

Oh right, I've been going to jazz performances here and there lately, and it looks like Chat Baker hosts shows too. There was a live performance this weekend — enjoying it in a pretty, spacious room at the tail end of a holiday...! Sounds pretty happy, doesn't it? If you're looking for a café with live performances, definitely check this place out.

And here's how to get the adorably cute LP-shaped tea coaster: write a receipt review and you get either salt bread or a coaster. But the coaster shape is just too cute!!!

Anyway, this place is so lush and green from the outside in — totally my style... ugh, I want to eat that pasta again. Pasta someone else makes for you always tastes best! I guess I still love a place that's green, cute, and delicious, hehehe.
