Lately I've been having so much fun hunting down new restaurants, and this time I visited a brand new spot that's been open less than a month. It's Samsol Gamjatang Main Branch!

I was curious about this new gamjatang (pork bone stew) restaurant that just opened on Sanghwa-ro in Dalseo-gu, Daegu, so I went with a friend and we ordered two bowls of ugeojippyeo haejangguk (bone soup with dried napa cabbage).

Hot broth, soft ugeoji, and plenty of meat still clinging to the bones — this bone soup made for a really satisfying meal. 🩷🩷 If you're on the hunt for a new gamjatang spot in Daegu, this new place is worth checking out.

The steaming hot stone bowl came packed with ugeoji and bones — it looked hearty just from the visual alone. With bone soup, it's better not to dig in right away but to take a spoonful or two of broth first to let the temperature settle a bit, haha.

I tasted the broth first, and it was rich yet savory with a deep umami flavor. Bone soup has that signature deep broth taste, and with the ugeoji added in, the broth felt even more savory and comforting.

Personally, I think the key to ugeojippyeo haejangguk is eating the ugeoji and meat together rather than just sipping the broth. When the ugeoji is soaked in broth, it's soft to chew and carries the broth flavor with it, and pairing it with the meat picked off the bone is an amazing combination!
