# Jung-gu Daegu brunch café: omelette ham cheese sandwich at Dento

This is Habit, recording spaces after my own taste. I'd wanted to visit this new brunch café near Banwoldang Station since it opened, drawn in by its colorful, photogenic menu. I finally made it there on a weekday with a close friend for lunch, and we had a blast eating our way through the menu. It's in an area full of hot new cafés, in the spot that used to be Over the Cloud — this is Dento.

## How to get to Dento from Banwoldang Station, and parking

Come out of Exit 9 at Banwoldang Station on Line 2 into Bongsan Culture Street, which is right there, then turn left immediately — Dento is opposite Olive Table. The address is 42-5 Bongsanmunhwa 2-gil, 1st floor, Jung-gu, Daegu, South Korea.

Park near the café, or if there's no space, use a nearby private parking lot.

⚠️ Note: Weekday lunchtime is rush hour and seats fill up fast, so I'd recommend avoiding that time or arriving early.

There were two of us, and we ordered like this. We originally ordered just one lemonade, but it was so good we ordered another to take out on our way out.

This is the exterior of Dento, the Banwoldang brunch spot that opened in mid-August in the former Over the Cloud location.

Walking in, the black-toned interior was the same as before, and the counter was in the same spot too.

In the middle sits a large, antique-feeling table set up like a self-service bar, which felt fresh to me. Forks, knives, spoons, napkins, and so on are all laid out there.

To the left of that table, round tables were lined up in a row along the window.

The prettiest table, I thought, was the one right by the counter, with a vase and stylish lighting overhead.

Looking at the counter, there was wine, today's coffee, and Saison Dupont ale.

Both the self-bar area and the counter were charming.

## Three dishes for two: how much food is that at Dento?

Here's everything we ordered, all laid out. Set against the red table, the colors felt even more vivid.

We ordered three dishes for two people, thinking it wouldn't be all that much food, but that turned out to be wrong —

— it was actually quite a lot, and we ended up eating until we were full.

## Dento's five bite-size open sandwiches: what to eat first

Dento's signature dish, and the one that went viral on social media for its cute look, is the five bite-size open sandwiches. Various toppings sit on baguette slices, and you're meant to eat them in this order: red pan con tomate first, then avocado salmon, romesco roasted vegetables, shrimp rémoulade, and finally truffle ricotta.

Personally, the romesco roasted vegetables was my favorite, while the friend I went with said the truffle ricotta was her top pick.

## Dento's omelette ham cheese sandwich: the best sandwich of my life

This is the omelette ham cheese sandwich, which I'd call the best sandwich of my life. It came out on one plate together with a mini salad,

I'm personally not a fan of hard bread, so the soft toast — just slightly crisp on the outside — with fluffy, sweet egg, ham, and cheese inside made for a dish that anyone could enjoy without complaint.

## Sides at Dento: aioli baby potatoes and lemonade

The aioli baby potatoes we tried as a side came out as whole baby potatoes topped with aioli sauce, and the spicy, creamy sauce paired well with the earthy potatoes.

The sweet-and-tangy lemonade was so much my taste that I ordered one more to take out, and the cup was so cute I had to take a photo!
