Today was a meat-hunting day 🐂 with my princess, so we headed to Gogi 9dan, a well-known spot in Chimsan-dong. From the moment we arrived, the huge parking lot and imposing exterior made me go 🙊. Walking in, there's an open kitchen right at the entrance where the owner himself was cutting the meat — his presence and knife skills were no joke ✨. Watching the whole butchering process happen right in front of us made me trust the place instantly 👍🏻

Gogi 9dan sits right on the main road in Chimsan-dong, so it's easy to pull in, and just like its giant signboard, the parking lot and the restaurant itself are both huge. The 1st floor is Gogi 9dan's dedicated parking lot 🚘, and you take the stairs up from there.

The interior was really spacious, with 4-person and 6-person tables, and a private space further in for group visits. The tables are all well spaced and separated by partitions, making it perfect for family meals or work dinners.

Our table 🪑 was by a full window, so the view was open and lovely, and the spacious layout was so comfortable for just the two of us. Soon this big table would be so full of food there'd barely be room left 👀

As an anchorchal (skirt steak) lover, it had been a while since I'd seen meat with such good color — the raw rib looked even more delicious, so I went with a 600g raw rib platter 🔔

## What side dishes come with the meal?

Salad, green onion kimchi, dongchimi (radish water kimchi), seaweed, onion soy sauce, japchae (glass noodles), and yangnyeom gejang (seasoned raw crab). The basic sides came out this generously. My princess cleaned out the japchae because it was so good haha. The seaweed was tangy and delicious. The side dishes did a great job cutting through the richness of the beef. And it's no secret that the yangnyeom gejang gets one free refill 🤫

## What's in the 9dan set, and is it worth it?

You can only order one 9dan set per grilled-meat platter, and it is not optional — it's a must!! I always go for doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) at barbecue places, but this kimchi jjigae was tangy and so good. Simmering away, I kept going back for more, polished off a whole bowl of rice, and cleaned up the set's other components too — sushi rice with wasabi, yukhoe (beef tartare), and jjolmyeon (spicy cold noodles). I'm so grateful they included yukhoe in this price package 🙏🏻❤️

## The 600g raw short rib platter: marbling and taste

See that marbling 🥩👀 The first order has to start at one platter, 600g. We got the 600g raw rib, and you can also order half platters of 300g in various combinations. But no regrets going with the full platter — the raw rib is genuinely delicious. Best in the world, seriously the best.

The rib meat, already scored with knife cuts, was soft with a nice chew and the juices — oh...✨ One bite in and I immediately ordered soju 💚 With a side dish this good, there's no resisting that green bottle!!

Eating the beef as beef sushi like this is also the best. The rice is seasoned perfectly, and wasabi lovers will love topping it just like this 🍣

The yangnyeom gejang too... I sucked out every bit packed inside 🦀

I simmered this one up and kept scooping it in. My spoon didn't stop moving 🥄 Belly full, I finished it off with a whole bowl of rice and the kimchi jjigae, letting out a satisfied burp~

On the way out, another moment of amazement — the dessert corner. They use Starbucks beans and even have a fridge stocked with iced cups 🧊, what great taste from the owner. The interior is clean and upscale, so it's a good place to bring parents too, and with a playroom, you can visit with kids as well. The space is large with private rooms, making Gogi 9dan suitable for family gatherings or work dinners too. With meat this beautifully marbled, there's no reason not to come. Ordering the value-packed 9dan set is a must, and sharing it might leave you stuffed to bursting, but I guarantee a very satisfying meal.
