## In short

Sokcho Yetgokgan is a traditional snack shop inside Sokcho Jungang Market in Sokcho, Gangwon, selling oranda (crisp puffed-rice and nut candy), old-style cookies, yakgwa (honey cookie) and local makgeolli. After trying the in-store samples, we bought oranda and shared it in the car and at our guesthouse, and two to three days later at home the yuzu aroma and crunch were unchanged. If chicken gangjeong alone feels repetitive at Sokcho Jungang Market, Sokcho Yetgokgan is the answer for gift-worthy snacks.

If you're looking for snacks and treats at Sokcho Jungang Market, I want to recommend Sokcho Yetgokgan. It's a great spot whether you're just browsing for a quick snack while walking through the market or looking for a gift to bring back for family or friends after your trip. They sell all kinds of cookies and oranda, so it was fun just to look around.

The oranda at Sokcho Yetgokgan is crunchy but not overly sweet, so I think people of all ages could enjoy it. It's not too hard, so it works fine as a snack for elderly family members too — a treat kids and parents can enjoy together. It also pairs well with coffee or tea, so it would be great to keep at home and snack on a piece at a time.

## Where is Sokcho Yetgokgan in Sokcho Jungang Market?

The address is 38 Jungangsijang-ro 6-gil, Unit 104, Sokcho, Gangwon — just search it on Naver Maps and you'll find it right away haha.

Sokcho Jungang Market has plenty of snack food, and this time I went and tried the oranda, which is great both as a gift and as a treat to munch on, and came back to share a review with you.

They were also selling syrups made from doraji (balloon flower root), deodeok, and ginger, but we went for the oranda since it's easy to snack on in the car, at the accommodation, and also makes a good gift.

## Oranda for when chicken gangjeong alone gets old

When you come to Sokcho Jungang Market, everyone tends to eat chicken gangjeong. But when you get tired of just chicken gangjeong, it's really nice to have other things like this to eat too.

Samples were available, so I tried some, and it was much more refreshing than the ones I'd had elsewhere, so I could eat several pieces without getting tired of it. It wasn't just plain sweet — it had a refreshing taste, which I liked.

## What else Sokcho Yetgokgan sells: makgeolli and yakgwa

They also sell buckwheat makgeolli and corn makgeolli. Picking up local products like these alongside the snacks seemed like a great idea too.

They also sell cheonggyul (green citrus) yakgwa and yuzu yakgwa. I liked that this shop has so many refreshing traditional treats that work well as dessert.

They also ship nationwide. The packaging is clean and neat, making this a great option if you're wondering what gift to bring back from a Sokcho trip. They work well for holidays, gifts for parents, treats for elderly relatives, or travel souvenirs for friends.

## How the oranda held up two to three days later at home

I packed it up in a hurry and opened it at home, and even after two to three days, the taste hadn't changed at all. Maybe because the weather was cool, it was fine even left at room temperature. Still, refrigerating it would probably be good too. The yuzu aroma is still really nice.

If you visit Sokcho Jungang Market, don't just eat the food and move on — take a look at snacks to bring back as travel gifts too. Sokcho Yetgokgan is a great option if you're looking for a food gift set. Above all, the owner was kind and gave friendly explanations, so I could browse and pick comfortably. If you're looking for snacks, cookies, or the best oranda at Sokcho Jungang Market, stop by once.
