## In short

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a Chinese restaurant on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan, sharing a mixed food-and-drink building with a restaurant and a bakery café. Before heading to Cheongsapo Haeundae Blue Line Park with a local friend, the writer ordered poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang (dry-fried black bean noodles) for 10,000 won, seafood jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) for 14,000 won and jalapeño cream shrimp for 26,000 won, and the jjamppong broth was generous with mussels, shrimp and squid yet clean rather than oily. With a downhill walk straight to Blue Line Park afterwards, Bueokgan Chinese slots neatly into a Busan sightseeing route.

Visiting Busan and heading to Cheongsapo Haeundae Blue Line Park with a local friend, I went looking for a good Haeundae Chinese restaurant for dinner beforehand and ended up at Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch. It has a more upscale feel than a typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant, and once I got there, both the food and the space were pretty impressive.

## Where is Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch, and where do you park?

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch sits on the first floor of a standalone building on Haeundae's Dalmaji-gil, and you can park in the underground lot behind the building or along the roadside in front of and across from the restaurant. Even the exterior felt a bit different from a typical Chinese restaurant, and since it's a standalone building, it wasn't hard to find on a first visit.

This place doesn't just run the Chinese restaurant — it's part of Bueokgan's mixed F&B space that also includes a restaurant and a bakery café. Maybe that's why even the building's exterior felt cleaner and more refined than what you'd expect from a typical Chinese restaurant.

## What is the interior of Bueokgan Chinese like?

The interior of Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch was really spacious. You'd normally picture a Chinese restaurant with a red sign or Chinese-style decor, but Bueokgan Chinese was quite different from that typical image.

![Spacious seating area inside Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong-02-1te44-966.webp)

![Dining hall atmosphere with round pendant lights](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong-04-zc2u9-966.webp)

The overall beige tones and the round pendant lights scattered throughout gave the space a soft glow, adding a warm feel. Even though I visited right when they opened, there were already families dining out and couples who looked like they were on a date.

It felt quieter and calmer than the usual bustling neighborhood Chinese restaurant, so it would suit anyone looking for a Haeundae Chinese restaurant with a nice atmosphere. There were also high chairs available, so it seemed fine to visit with a baby.

## How does the poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang taste?

![A bowl of pork belly jjajangmyeon topped with a poached egg](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong-07-1getl-966.webp)

This was my first time having a poached egg on top of jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles). Mixing the yolk into the noodles and jjajang sauce added a savory, smooth touch to the rich flavor of the jjajang.

There was also a strong wok-hei (charred, smoky) flavor. It seemed like the sauce had been stir-fried over high heat, and that smokiness lingered subtly in the jjajang sauce, giving the very first bite a different flavor from the usual sweet jjajang.

![Close-up of jjajang sauce with thick pork belly and vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong-09-mdnxp-966.webp)

There were also plenty of vegetables, and the pork belly inside was thick enough that you could really feel the texture of the meat. The noodles weren't mushy at all — they were nice and chewy, so when mixed with the sauce, it coated the noodles evenly and tasted great.

## Is the seafood jjamppong broth clean or oily?

Bueokgan Chinese's seafood jjamppong (₩14,000) had quite a lot of mussels, and the seafood overall was generous. There were plump shrimp and squid in it too, so it was easy to pick out the seafood piece by piece.

![Seafood jjamppong full of mussels and seafood](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong-10-ept1y-966.webp)

![Shrimp and squid lifted out of the seafood jjamppong](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong-11-1an8m-966.webp)

What I liked about the jjamppong was that the broth was cleaner than expected. It didn't have that heavy greasiness typical of Chinese dishes, and I felt relatively less oily after eating.

![Rich yet clean seafood jjamppong broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong-12-1vwb2-966.webp)

There was a richness that slightly reminded me of a bone broth, but the soup still wasn't greasy. The spice level was also just right — not overly spicy — so I could enjoy the broth's flavor without any burden.

## Is the jalapeño cream shrimp worth 26,000 won?

![Jalapeño cream shrimp served with a side salad](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong-13-12wmx-966.webp)

Cream shrimp itself is a familiar dish, but I was curious how it would work with jalapeño added, so I ordered it.

First off, I liked the shrimp itself — they were really plump. Sometimes when you order cream shrimp, the batter is big but the shrimp inside turns out disappointingly small. Here, though, the shrimp weren't small at all — they were quite substantial, and had a nice chewy bite.

![Cross-section of jalapeño cream shrimp showing plump shrimp meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong/buukgan-chinese-haeundae-seafood-jjamppong-14-merlx-966.webp)

The soft, sweet sauce on the cream shrimp can easily get heavy, but the sharp kick of the jalapeño and the salad cut through that heaviness now and then, so it ended up being less greasy than I expected.

## Verdict and the walk down to Blue Line Park

I originally went looking for a Haeundae Chinese restaurant for dinner before heading to Cheongsapo, and I was satisfied overall — the atmosphere and the food were both clean and not greasy.

Afterward, we walked toward Haeundae Blue Line Park, and since the path is mostly downhill, it was a nice way to walk off dinner along the way. So if you're planning a Busan trip, it might be worth pairing this meal with that route.
