Upper and Under is a café I visited with friends after a meal in Gangnam. They have so many good desserts and drinks that it's become one of my go-to spots there :) It's on the Gangnam café street, so it's easy to set a meetup nearby, and since it serves specialty coffee alongside quality drinks and a wide variety of desserts, it's a great place to just relax and take your time.

## Upper and Under hours and the walk from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 6

Upper and Under is open daily from 11am to 10pm and is close to Exit 6 of Sinnonhyeon Station. It's a walkable distance from Gangnam Station too, and also close to Sinnonhyeon Station!

## What's in the cake showcase at Upper and Under?

As soon as I walked in I was struck by how the cakes looked. Every single one looked so delicious!!! (I wanted to try one of each haha)

The fig cake and tiramisu were both good-sized, easy to share between a few people or take away.

I had the vanilla Basque cheesecake and honestly, it was truly delicious. There's a yellow cheese version too, but I figured it might be too salty so I went vanilla — and it gave the cheese-room-quality cheesecakes a run for their money!

### Baked goods: financiers, madeleines and canelés

Beyond that, there were tons of financiers, madeleines, canelés and more, all looking incredibly tempting. The banana-topped pie and the crème brûlée looked amazing too.

It's not just the classic flavors either — there's double vanilla canelé, lemon, Earl Grey fig madeleine and more, so many flavors that I wanted to try one of everything.

## Upper and Under drink menu and prices, including decaf

The mango vacherin frappe seems to be a new addition. It's a steep 9,000 won, but it looks delicious.

Upper and Under is known for its signature cream lattes. There's Einspänner, salted caramel, and pistachio — I love pistachio so that's what I picked.

There's also plenty of coffee, cream drinks, and non-coffee options, and decaf is available too. The prices do run a bit high, though.

## Is the seating good for a group meetup or studying?

Upper and Under has a lot of spacious indoor seating, so I saw couples on dates, groups of friends, and people who'd brought their laptops in to work.

With plenty of items like financiers and cakes that pair well with coffee, dessert lovers will have a great time picking and choosing. Between the cakes and the financiers and everything else on display, I spent a good while happily agonizing over what to order the moment I walked in~

## How the decaf pistachio cream latte and matcha cream oat latte taste

The pistachio cream latte combines the nutty flavor of pistachio with a soft cream on top, so if you like sweet drinks, this one will suit you well. The matcha cream oat latte has matcha's characteristic bitterness balanced with soft cream and oat milk, making for a distinctive, enjoyable drink :)

The pistachio cream on top was so good!! And since it's decaf, there's no guilt about it either. Overall the vibe was warm and comfortable, great for chatting with friends over coffee, or for slowly enjoying dessert and a drink while just spending time.

## Vanilla Basque cheesecake at Upper and Under: worth ordering again

This cheesecake is seriously amazing. It's a good size, and instead of being dry, the inside is completely moist and dense while the outside stays firm!!! My friend ordered a decaf iced americano, and said the iced coffee paired perfectly with the cake. This is genuinely a dessert I'd recommend, no regrets on this choice. I'd order it again.

Upper and Under's Basque cheesecake has a soft yet rich cheese flavor that pairs really well with coffee. The outside is baked to a tempting look while the inside stays moist and soft, so a slice disappears fast haha.
