## In short

Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch is a tonkatsu (pork cutlet) restaurant in Yeonsinnae, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, where a couple who love pork cutlets ordered the mixed katsu plus Set A and shared everything down to the cheese katsu. At Katsu Monster the sauce, wasabi and salt sit on the table so you scoop out only as much as you need, and solo diners filled the small room, which leaves no space for a stroller. For comparing several freshly fried cutlets in one sitting, Katsu Monster is a solid Yeonsinnae lunch.

## Why this couple went back to Katsu Monster in Yeonsinnae

My husband and I love tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) so much that we're always hunting down good spots for it. This time, while looking for a good Yeonsinnae restaurant, we decided to go back to Katsu Monster, a place we'd visited once before.

## Easy for solo diners, hard with a stroller

Katsu Monster in Yeonsinnae, Eunpyeong is on the smaller side, so there's no room for a stroller, sorry! Please keep that in mind if you're coming with a baby. There were quite a lot of solo diners, and honestly the atmosphere made me think even I, who normally can't eat alone, could manage it here.

## Mixed katsu and Set A: what comes with each?

After slowly looking over the menu, we ordered the mixed katsu and Set A for the day. Trying several kinds at once is way more appealing to me than sticking to just one.

Besides tonkatsu, they also have cold soba, cold udon, chicken karaage udon, chicken karaage rice bowl, and more, so keep that in mind too.

While waiting for our food at Katsu Monster, the smell of frying drifted over and made us hungrier by the minute...! While we waited, we scooped out the salad sauce and wasabi that sit on every table into our little dishes.

## Mixed katsu served all at once: how the cheese katsu tastes

After a short wait, everything we ordered at Katsu Monster in Yeonsinnae finally arrived at once. It came out looking appetizing, generous, and beautifully plated.

I'm glad we ordered a variety instead of just one kind! Whenever I go to a pork cutlet place in Eunpyeong, I basically always get the cheese one without a second thought.

Katsu Monster is generous with the cheese, so I'd definitely recommend it for lunch in Eunpyeong.

The cheese stretched beautifully, the breading on the outside stayed crisp, and the meat inside was juicy — satisfying from the very first bite.

The breading wasn't too thick, so eating it with the meat wasn't heavy or greasy at all! My husband loves pork cutlet, and he kept comparing each piece at Katsu Monster, debating which one was the tastiest, haha.

## Scoop-your-own sauce, wasabi and salt at the table

Personally I like dipping generously into sauce, and I really liked that at Katsu Monster the sauce isn't drizzled on or served in a fixed portion — you scoop out as much as you want right at the table.

![Katsu dipped into tonkatsu sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeonsinnae-katsu-goen-modum-katsu-lunch/yeonsinnae-katsu-goen-modum-katsu-lunch-16-6l5zr-900.webp)

If it starts feeling a bit heavy, adding wasabi or dipping in salt cuts through the richness, haha. My favorite combo is tonkatsu sauce plus a touch of salt — it adds a savory, salty kick.

No matter how much you mix and dip, your mouth can start to feel a little oily as you go, and that's when what you eat alongside really matters. I like pairing it with side dishes like salad — one bite of that in between resets your palate.

With a menu like Katsu Monster's mixed katsu, where you get to slowly taste several kinds, it was fun to compare each piece one by one rather than diving in all at once. Even with the same breading, the thickness and texture of the meat made each bite feel a little different.

## Is the portion enough, and what's worth adding?

More than anything, eating it freshly fried and hot on the spot, instead of getting it delivered, made me realize dining in really is the way to go for a Yeonsinnae lunch. I worried at first it might be a bit small, but it wasn't lacking at all — we actually left a little behind. If you're worried it might not be enough, I'd recommend adding the mini curry or chicken karaage. I've had them before and they were delicious, haha.

![Nearly empty plate of mixed katsu at Katsu Monster](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeonsinnae-katsu-goen-modum-katsu-lunch/yeonsinnae-katsu-goen-modum-katsu-lunch-20-1urt4-900.webp)

He must have liked it, because my husband even ordered an extra bowl of rice at the end, haha. It's nice and heartwarming to see him eat so well. If you're looking for a good Yeonsinnae restaurant or a Yeonsinnae lunch spot, and you want to try several kinds of freshly fried katsu, this place is worth a visit. We left Katsu Monster in Eunpyeong full and satisfied :)
