## In short

Suksudaega is a hanok-style Korean set-meal (hanjeongsik) restaurant on Gangbyeon-ro in Anjung-eup, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi. For an older sister's birthday, the family booked a private room at 11:30 a.m. on a weekday and ate the grilled croaker special (30,000 won) as a course, finishing by turning the stone-pot rice into nurungbap (scorched-rice porridge). With its own parking lot, baby chairs and private rooms, Suksudaega worked well for a family gathering or a meal with parents.

> Suksudaega

Today I want to introduce Suksudaega, a place I visit often for family meals and gatherings — we even held my second child's first birthday party here. This time we went for my older sister's birthday. The atmosphere is always great, and this visit was just as satisfying as always.

## Where is Suksudaega, and is there parking at the hanok?

Suksudaega is at 131 Gangbyeon-ro, Anjung-eup, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, with a spacious private lot that made parking easy. It's open daily from 11:30 to 20:50, with a break time from 15:30 to 17:30 and last order at 14:00 and 19:20.

![Suksudaega's private parking lot](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-02-okjkq-900.webp)

This Pyeongtaek Korean-restaurant favorite has a large private lot, so parking was hassle-free.

![Easy-to-park parking space at Suksudaega](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-03-10xlq-900.webp)

Not having to worry about parking was a nice plus.

![Suksudaega's hanok-style exterior and garden](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-04-1y0j4-900.webp)

The hanok-style building set a great mood before we even walked in.

The garden was nicely landscaped, with a pavilion and benches perfect for resting after a meal. On a nice day, you could easily sip coffee outside. There were plenty of pretty spots for family photos too.

## Suksudaega's private rooms for first birthdays and family introductions: baby chairs and a wine fridge

Inside, Suksudaega still carries that hanok feel. With so many room-style spaces, it's easy to see why it's popular for family gatherings, first-birthday parties, and meet-the-parents dinners.

There were plenty of baby chairs ready, so visiting with a little one looked easy too.

On one side there was a wine fridge stocked with a variety of wines — there's a reason this place is also known as a Pyeongtaek wine spot.

They're apparently running a sparkling wine event for guests who leave a Naver receipt review, so it might be worth trying if you visit. I missed it this time, but I'll definitely join in next time.

## Suksudaega weekday lunch special menu and prices

![Suksudaega's weekday lunch special menu board](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-07-1hxal-900.webp)

Suksudaega's weekday lunch special lets you enjoy a proper Korean course meal at a reasonable price.

- Lunch special table setting ₩25,000
- Grilled croaker special ₩30,000
- Braised short rib set ₩39,000
- Beopseongpo dried croaker set ₩39,000

![The reserved private room at Suksudaega](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-08-10ohx-900.webp)

We had a weekday 11:30am reservation, and the private room made for a quiet, relaxed meal.

![Plates and napkins set on the room table](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-09-uprug-900.webp)

![A cup of toasty green tea water](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-10-184yw-900.webp)

The plates, paper cups, and napkins were all neatly set, and even the toasty green tea water was delicious from the very first sip.

## What comes in the 30,000-won grilled croaker course, dish by dish

We ordered the weekday grilled croaker special (₩30,000). Suksudaega's croaker course started with pumpkin porridge and dongchimi (watery radish kimchi), then moved through salad, royal court japchae (glass noodles), vinegared salad, cold salad, sesame-leaf pancake, tteokgalbi (short rib patties), and shrimp-and-pine-nut salad before ending with a stone-pot rice spread.

![The croaker special course beginning to arrive](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-11-ojiwx-900.webp)

The dishes arrived one after another, like a proper course.

![Pumpkin porridge, the first course](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-12-14me8-900.webp)

![Dongchimi served alongside the pumpkin porridge](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-13-10km4-900.webp)

The first dishes — pumpkin porridge and dongchimi — were delicious right away. Mild, not too seasoned, but I kept reaching for more.

![Fresh vegetable seasonal salad](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-14-1rmvc-900.webp)

The seasonal salad had fresh vegetables and a tasty dressing.

![Warm royal court japchae](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-15-1uhyk-900.webp)

The royal court japchae came out warm, seasoned just right — not too strong.

![Vinegared salad topped with squid sashimi and flying fish roe](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-16-fcngp-900.webp)

The vinegared salad, topped with squid sashimi and flying fish roe, had a subtle sesame-leaf aroma and was light and clean to eat.

![Bulgogi cold salad with fried burdock root](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-17-1frot-900.webp)

The bulgogi cold salad was appetite-whetting too, with crunchy fried burdock root adding great texture.

![Sesame-leaf pancake filled with meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-18-jnhoh-900.webp)

The sesame-leaf pancake had meat filling inside, and it was even better eaten warm.

![Juicy Korean beef tteokgalbi](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-19-1f6lx-900.webp)

The Korean beef tteokgalbi was juicy — kids would probably love it too.

![Sweet-and-sour shrimp-and-pine-nut salad](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-20-ik313-900.webp)

The shrimp-and-pine-nut salad is the dish I always look forward to at Suksudaega. Once again, the sweet-and-sour sauce with shrimp was a great combo — and it disappeared first, as always.

## Grilled croaker, doenjang jjigae and a nurungbap finish

![The main table spread of the croaker special](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-21-wo9m1-900.webp)

At this Pyeongtaek Korean-restaurant favorite, the main course of the croaker special was just as satisfying. Stone-pot rice, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), grilled croaker, and a wide range of side dishes filled the table — genuinely generous.

![Crispy-skinned grilled croaker](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-22-1xu25-900.webp)

The croaker was crisp outside and moist inside. The flesh was tender and just right in seasoning — a perfect match with rice.

The doenjang jjigae was packed with ingredients and had a deep, rich broth I kept coming back to.

![Neatly arranged side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-23-1krew-900.webp)

Every side dish was neatly prepared, giving it a comforting, homemade feel.

After scooping out the rice from the stone pot, they add water to make scorched-rice hot water — I kept eating even though I was already full. A Korean set meal really does feel complete when it ends this way.

![Plum tea served after the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik/pyeongtaek-anjung-family-birthday-hanjeongsik-24-qzqwa-900.webp)

After the meal, plum tea was served, which was a nice, clean way to finish.

## Verdict: is Suksudaega good for a family gathering or a meal with parents?

This Pyeongtaek Korean-restaurant favorite never disappoints on a repeat visit. The food is neat and the atmosphere is great, so I'd recommend it for family gatherings or meals with parents. The croaker special was generous and tasty, making it a solid weekday lunch option too. If you're looking for a good Korean restaurant in Pyeongtaek or a family gathering spot in Anjung, give Suksudaega a try.
