## In short

Gasangsun Coffee is a specialty coffee shop on Inda 9-gil in Ara-dong, Jeju. Over a catch-up with an old friend, the writer drank dutch coffee (cold brew) served in a wine glass and ate a 2,800 won choco levain cookie, and the aroma held in the glass tasted clearly different from bottled dutch coffee. With antique hand mills and brass kettles displayed like a mini coffee museum, Gasangsun Coffee is a café worth a second visit.

I first found this place ages ago on my husband's recommendation — the coffee was great and the interior was comfortable, so I ended up spending a fun afternoon there with friends. This time I went back with a friend I hadn't seen in a while, to try coffee menu items I hadn't had before!

It's a place I want to visit again. Here's my honest review of Gasangsun Coffee, a café that clearly puts effort into serving good coffee.

They also sell dutch coffee and drip bags to take home! The dutch coffee is a bit pricier though?! So we decided to order it and see.

Cookies and financiers run in the ₩2,000–3,000 range. Fig cream cheese financier ₩2,900, nuts whole wheat levain cookie ₩3,500, choco levain cookie ₩2,800. Gasangsun Coffee also sells gelato and Marlenka cake.

## Inside Gasangsun Coffee: full-height windows and antique hand mills

Looks like they run outdoor tables on days it isn't raining. We visited right after rain, so the tables were folded up.

There's even a perk for national merit recipients — one free drink on visit. Places like this are genuinely hard to find these days...! Kudos to the owner.

The space is quite spacious and open, with a full wall of windows on one side that gives it a great sense of openness. There's also a bar table by the window, so it looks fine for coming alone too. Long ceiling lights give it a clean, polished feel, while the wood-toned tables add a warm touch. The lighting is soft, making it comfortable for conversation.

There's also a bar area set up for hand drip coffee. Dozens of antique hand mills are lined up across the wall shelving. Pretty fascinating.

Brass kettles and pretty teacup sets also catch the eye. There's even a vintage radio amp and an old dial telephone on display. It kind of feels like a mini coffee museum? Genuinely fun to look around.

There's also a tidy self-serve water bar tucked in one corner of the store.

I actually don't know much about what the Columbus Guide is, but apparently they're listed as a '2026 Korea Coffee Destination.' I feel like I've barely seen that recognition around Jeju, so I guess this place is known among people who really know their coffee.

## How does the wine-glass dutch coffee taste?

![Dutch coffee in a wine glass with the choco levain cookie](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-aradong-cafe-dutch-coffee-wine-glass/jeju-aradong-cafe-dutch-coffee-wine-glass-16-1kkhy-1200.webp)

We ordered the dutch coffee and the choco levain cookie. The coffee came out in a big wine glass, which threw me off at first, but it also felt kind of fancy. Drinking it out of a glass with a narrowing rim seemed to trap the coffee's aroma inside, making it taste richer (I'm guessing that's intentional?)

![Close-up of dutch coffee in a wine glass](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-aradong-cafe-dutch-coffee-wine-glass/jeju-aradong-cafe-dutch-coffee-wine-glass-17-i8u8u-900.webp)

A pleasant sweetness, a subtle acidity, and a heavy body all mixed together in a layered way. I guess you could say lots of different notes come through? Definitely a different taste from the usual store-bought dutch coffee.

Coffee or wine — if you didn't know, you might just call it wine.

### The 2,800 won choco levain cookie

The choco levain cookie was priced kindly. I wasn't sure it'd taste good, but it exceeded expectations! The outside is nicely crisp, the inside moist, the toasted marshmallow chewy, and it's loaded with chocolate. A bite of the sweet cookie followed by a sip of coffee made the chocolate flavor feel much deeper and more refined thanks to the coffee's aroma!

We cleared everything and had a great time chatting away with my friend!

## The verdict: what kind of café is Gasangsun Coffee?

A coffee destination located in Ara-dong, Jeju. With its open floor-to-ceiling windows, generous spacing between tables, and soft lighting, it's a comfortable space that's great for conversation. Antique hand mills, brass kettles, and vintage props give it an old-world mood, like a small coffee museum.

Come experience the combination for yourself at Gasangsun Coffee — an elegant dutch coffee served in a wine glass with maximized aroma, paired with a chocolate-packed, good-value choco levain cookie!
