Galbitang vs. seolleongtang—which do you prefer? I am totally on Team Galbitang, haha. But every now and then I crave seolleongtang too. On a hearty day when I want meat, I always go for galbitang, but you know those days when you just want to keep gulping down soup? I think that is when I prefer seolleongtang, hehe.

I had been feeling chilly and achy for a while, and I really wanted a bowl of seolleongtang (ox-bone soup) with rice mixed in, finished to the last bite. So this is where I went!

## Parking and location for Morakmorak in Seongpo-dong, Ansan

You can park in the commercial parking lot beside the building.

- The parking entrances for Yesulin Apartments and Arts Plaza are different.
- You need to use the Arts Plaza parking entrance.
- Your navigation may set the destination as Yesulin Apartments, so be sure to check!
- Take the elevator to basement level 1 and the restaurant is right in front of you.

Do you know which building this is? Hehe. This is Arts Plaza inside Yesulin Apartments, which used to be the central apartment complex in Jungang-dong, Ansan, right? Haha. My friend lived here when she was little, and her mother still lives here. So I used to visit often, and all the memories came flooding back, hehe. On basement level 1 of Arts Plaza, there are old restaurants we remember.

Take the Arts Plaza elevator down to basement level 1, and the restaurant is right in front of you. My childhood memories really came rushing back, you know? Hehe.

The reason I came to eat at Morakmorak, a Seongpo-dong favorite, is that it is run directly by a butcher restaurant! At franchise places, seolleongtang and galbitang can sometimes taste like seolleongtang powder, or the galbitang barely has any meat... sob sob sob. For me, meat-based dishes are always best when they come from a butcher restaurant, so I came to Morakmorak, a Seongpo-dong butcher restaurant known for seolleongtang.

There are meal options for lunch, and since it is a butcher restaurant, you can also buy meat, pay a table-setting fee, and grill it yourself! I want to come back later for a drink with a friend and some meat. It seems like it would be nice and quiet, haha.

Ahhh, this is exactly it. It has to be made properly like this to taste good. Really, you know the taste of a truly rich ox-bone broth the moment you eat it!! Morakmorak, the Seongpo-dong seolleongtang spot, really is the dependable standard you expect from a butcher restaurant!

I ordered seolleongtang! My husband ordered galbitang!

Isn't the amount of meat in the galbitang incredible? At the next table, people were saying, “Why is there so much meat in this? I’m full!” as they ate, haha.

My husband shared a piece of meat with me. Wow... it was so tender. But I am also someone who loves texture in food, you know? Rather than falling apart, it was moist inside and pleasantly chewy on the outside—so delicious!!

The meat came right off the rib bone. Dipping it in sauce, filling my mouth with it, and chewing—pure happiness. I thought I should come back later, order galbitang, and finish a whole bowl, hahaha.

The galbitang! It is plentiful and delicious, so you really have to try it. (Ah... suddenly I’m so hungry...) 

### Seolleongtang ₩9,000

First of all, isn't the price so kind? And can you see the difference in broth color? At other seolleongtang places, it can be white. But! Because this was made properly with care, even the color of the broth made me trust it.

There is meat in the seolleongtang too! There was enough that I did not feel shortchanged, and I was so full that I passed two pieces to my husband... haha.

mix in rice, top it with kimchi, and slurp!! This time, my goal was to finish every drop of broth, so I drank it all. Hahaha. The best.

There is kimchi in the container! When they bring your food, they give you a plate for serving yourself kimchi.

Take only as much as you need, and definitely try the kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), which is especially tasty, hehe. But the broth was so good that I kept ladling up broth instead of eating kimchi, you know? (That made me so hot... haha. What would I have done without a fan?)

Each person’s food comes on its own plate! You can use that white plate to serve yourself kimchi or to set aside meat to cool, hehe.

## Would I recommend Morakmorak in Seongpo-dong?

Yes, I recommend it so, so much. Haha. My daughter does not eat galbitang, but she is a seolleongtang fanatic, hehe. I plan to come back with my little girl later and finish another whole bowl. Morakmorak is a Seongpo-dong seolleongtang and galbitang restaurant where you can trust the good meat from its butcher-restaurant roots, plus the care that comes from taking time over the food—somewhere even children can eat with confidence. I recommend it so much, so please do try it!!
