On day three of my Jeju trip, I had a blast snorkeling at Dorippal Beach all morning, and before I knew it, my stomach was growling. I tend to get much hungrier than usual after being in the water, so I decided lunch had better be a proper one and looked for somewhere good nearby.

That is when I found a black pork restaurant in Jungmun, about a four-minute drive from Dorippal Beach. It is also well known as a local favorite in Seogwipo, so I went to try it—and with its good value and excellent spread, I wanted to share it with anyone looking for a lunch spot during a Jeju trip.

## Location and exterior of Oreumak Garden Jungmun Main Branch

Oreumak Garden Jungmun Main Branch (오르막가든 중문본점), which I visited that day, was about a four-minute drive from Dorippal Beach. It sits along a main road, so even though it was my first time there, it was easy to find, and it was convenient to stop by while traveling. It also felt like an easy distance from the Jungmun Tourist Complex, so I thought it was worth considering if you are looking for black pork in Jungmun, Jeju.

Once I arrived, the exterior alone made quite an impression. Rather than the feel of a newly built, sleek restaurant, it had the warm, familiar character of a long-established local place. It seemed to have been operating from the same spot for a long time, which made it feel even more like a true Jeju local restaurant.

There was also an outdoor terrace on one side of the restaurant. On a bright, pleasantly cool day, it looked like a lovely place to take your time over a meal.

One thing that caught my eye while looking into this place was that it had no fewer than 12 Blue Ribbons. It gave me the sense that it had been consistently loved for a long time, so I was excited even before lunch.

## Parking and the spacious interior

![Restaurant's dedicated parking area](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungmun-black-pork-lunch-garden/jungmun-black-pork-lunch-garden-06-uf5us-900.webp)

Parking was easy, too. There are dedicated lots in front of and beside the restaurant, making it convenient to visit by car. Many people use rental cars when traveling in Jeju, and I liked that I could park right away instead of circling the area because of parking. With its location on a main road and its own lots, both access and parking convenience were good.

Once inside, it was much larger than the exterior had suggested. The tables were laid out generously, so it looked comfortable even for a larger party, and there was separate group seating farther inside.

I thought it would work well for family gatherings or meals with a larger group. There was also a playroom where children could play. For families traveling around Jeju with kids, that could make mealtime a little more relaxed while the children play for a while.

With its roomy interior and plentiful tables, it did not feel daunting to visit at lunchtime, and the atmosphere suited everyone from families to groups.

## Black pork barbecue and meal options

As befits a black pork specialist, Oreumak Garden Jungmun Main Branch offered a range of black pork barbecue options as well as meal dishes. I heard that you can try black pork aged through both dry-aging and wet-aging methods here, so it seemed especially well suited to anyone who wants to properly enjoy the pork itself.

![Aged black pork menu information](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungmun-black-pork-lunch-garden/jungmun-black-pork-lunch-garden-13-1wtb3-900.webp)

There was a broad selection of meal dishes in addition to barbecue, making it easy to visit not only for dinner but also for lunch in Jungmun. We chose dishes that would be filling without being too heavy for lunch.

## The lunch dishes we ordered

![Ordered stir-fried pork and kimchi stew](https://img.superchart.com/images/jungmun-black-pork-lunch-garden/jungmun-black-pork-lunch-garden-14-p6al3-900.webp)

- Stir-fried pork, 2 servings at ₩10,000 each
- Black pork kimchi stew, ₩10,000
- Mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in broth), ₩9,000

Not long after we ordered, the food was set out quickly. We were very hungry after snorkeling, so I was glad the dishes came so fast. The stir-fried pork and black pork kimchi stew arrived almost at the same time, so we could start eating right away without waiting.

## A combination of stir-fried pork, kimchi stew, and mul naengmyeon

I started with the stir-fried pork. At ₩10,000 per serving, I thought it was good value, but when it arrived, the portion was also quite generous. Above all, I was happy to get that distinctive, pleasantly chewy texture of black pork.

The seasoning was not overly intense and was nicely balanced, so it went well with rice. The stir-fried pork was delicious on its own, but it was even better when I piled rice and plenty of pork into lettuce for a big ssam (lettuce wrap); all the flavors and textures came together beautifully.

When you think of black pork in Jeju, grilled pork is usually the first thing that comes to mind, but enjoying it as stir-fried pork at lunch was quite nice, too. The soybean sprout soup served with it was also memorable.

Its broth was clean and refreshing, so a spoonful after the spicy stir-fried pork freshened up my palate. It was not overpowering and had such a cool, clean taste that I kept reaching for it.

Several side dishes came with the meal, and every one of them was properly seasoned. There were lots of banchan (Korean side dishes) that went well with rice; I liked the spread so much that it felt as if I could finish a whole bowl of rice before the main dishes even arrived.

Next, I tried the black pork kimchi stew. The earthenware pot was generously filled with tofu, pork, enoki mushrooms, and more. One spoonful of the broth revealed a lovely balance between the deep flavor drawn from the pork and the savory richness of kimchi.

The broth was nicely rich yet easy to eat with rice, so I kept going back for more. There was plenty of black pork in it, too, which made picking out the ingredients enjoyable. Ordering the stir-fried pork and kimchi stew together made such a great match for a bowl of rice. I thought this kind of menu combination would be perfect when you need a hearty meal during a Jeju trip.

Lastly, I tried the mul naengmyeon we had ordered as a side. The broth was clean and refreshingly cold, and the noodles were nice and chewy. The arongsatae, a tender beef shank topping, was especially delicious, too.

The meat and noodles worked beautifully together. Taking bites of cool mul naengmyeon between the hot stir-fried pork and kimchi stew made my mouth feel neatly refreshed.

## A hearty lunch after time in the water

Overall, the meal dishes were reasonably priced, the portions were generous, and the spread was substantial, making for a very satisfying lunch. Best of all, after snorkeling at Dorippal Beach, we could quickly eat somewhere nearby. It stayed with me not simply because it was close, but because I was happy with both the taste and the selection.

If you are looking for a hearty meal around Jungmun during a Jeju trip, this black pork restaurant may be worth a stop. In particular, if you want good-value meal dishes as well as barbecue options while looking for black pork in Jungmun, Jeju, it seems like a solid choice. If, like me, you want a filling lunch after enjoying some time at the beach, keep it in mind as a Jungmun lunch spot.
