## In short

Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Baegot, Siheung, Gyeonggi, where staff grill the meat for you from start to finish. A couple stopped in after a massage date and ordered the Marbled Basic Set (Boseong pork) and the Pressure-Cooked Pork Belly Fondue Kimchi Jjim for two, and the asparagus, onion and aged kimchi grilled alongside the pork belly stood out. Ssosam 208 is worth booking on a day when you want to eat without watching the grill yourself.

After a long-overdue massage date with my husband, we headed to Ssosam 208, a rising favorite in Siheung Baegot, for a meat date too~ The staff grilled everything for us from start to finish so we didn't have to worry about a thing~ The pork was moist and chewy and it was such a satisfying meal~ Want to come along and taste the delicious meat?

## What the restaurant looks like inside

The restaurant had a cozy feel with charming blue chairs~ Maybe because the weather had warmed up, but the full glass front doors were opened wide, giving it an open, bright feeling~

We took a breezy table by the entrance~ There was a gentle breeze blowing that day and it felt so nice~ Even though we were technically indoors, it felt like we were eating meat outdoors, which I loved!!!

## What we ordered: the Marbled Basic Set and pressure-cooked pork belly fondue kimchi jjim

The menu was made up of set menus, à la carte grilled items, a Ssosam beehive dish, and rice dishes like spicy braised ribs & kimchi jjim~ The set menus were about ₩1,000 cheaper than ordering à la carte, so we went with the Marbled Basic Set (Boseong pork), the pressure-cooked pork belly fondue kimchi jjim (2 servings), and Jinro Gold~ You order directly at the table using the kiosk~

Looking around after ordering, I noticed this place had already been featured on quite a few TV shows~ The cute toad and toad girlfriend decorations made me smile!!!

![TV feature signage and toad character decorations](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-05-8zttg-840.webp)

## Side dish setup and the free rice noodle soup before the meal

After ordering, they set the table first~ It was interesting that there was a metal plate of the same material as the grill running around the edges of the grill, and there were also two square toast-press-like plates, so I started wondering what they were for~

![Basic table setup with the surrounding metal plate and square trays](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-06-1gvyt-900.webp)

They gave us coin wet wipes, so we poured water on them ourselves — the way they puff up when they hit water is so cute~

I was surprised a Korean BBQ place served rice noodle soup — that's unusual~ It was packed with bean sprouts, crunchy and light, perfect for a small bite before the meal!!!

You can't have pork belly without soju, right? My husband, soju's own promotion ambassador~ He was smiling so brightly I had to snap a photo!!!

## Staff grill everything, asparagus included

The staff brought over a small dish of oil with garlic in it and set it on the grill first~ I just now noticed the words 'soju and samgyeopsal' written on the square frame — the lettering is so pretty haha

They carried over the pre-seared pork belly, pork neck, asparagus, and onion on a shovel-shaped pan and poured them onto the grill~ The moment the meat hit the heated grill it sizzled and a savory aroma rose up, which was wonderful~

I've seen plenty of BBQ places put chives or green onion on the grill, but this was my first time seeing asparagus~ They even had the benefits of asparagus written up, and reading it, there seemed to be lots of good reasons to eat it haha

Honestly, if you just sit there, the staff cut and flip the meat and do everything for you, which was so relaxing~ They'd come over right on time, work through it all efficiently, then leave and come back again — so professional!!!

![Staff grilling pre-seared pork belly and pork neck on the grill](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-07-ktpyl-713.webp)

Meat tastes better with rice, so while we waited for it to finish cooking, we ordered a bowl of steamed rice too~ It was packed in so tightly that it took some effort to pop the lid off — you could feel the care put into a ₩1,000 bowl of rice haha

![A tightly packed bowl of steamed rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-08-1ka1x-900.webp)

The plate of the same material running around the edge of the grill turned out to be for resting the scissors and tongs~ It looked much more hygienic than just leaving them on the table!!!

The staff came back, and once fat started pooling inside the square frame, they added kimchi and bean sprouts~ Watching them wait for the pork fat to render before adding the kimchi and sprouts, I was impressed by how systematic the grilling method was~

The pork neck, which had been left whole and unsliced up to this point, was finally cut~ They kept flipping the meat regularly too, so it cooked evenly to a nice golden brown~

Once the meat was nearly done, they brought back the onions that had been set aside for safekeeping and sliced them up on the grill~ It really wasn't random — everything was calculated in advance~ No wonder the word 'professional' kept coming up haha

![Pork belly, pork neck, asparagus, and onion cooking together on the grill](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-09-907vk-1200.webp)

They neatly moved the fully cooked pork belly onto the metal plate first so it wouldn't burn~ And they didn't just dump it there — they arranged it nicely, stacking it two layers high off to the side, and even made a spot for the asparagus~

![Pork belly and asparagus stacked two layers high on the metal plate](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-10-ze630-900.webp)

Here's the final grilled result~ Look at how the under-cooked onions were kept underneath to cook further, while the fully done pork neck was placed on top of the onions so it wouldn't burn~ This is exactly what grilling meat with real care looks like!!!

## How did the pork belly and pork neck taste?

Let's start with the golden pork belly~ It was savory and wonderfully chewy, with a great texture~ The umami was off the charts — my husband's eyes went wide the moment he tasted it, asking why it was so good~

![A golden-brown piece of grilled pork belly](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-11-13pj2-900.webp)

The onion was sweet and crunchy — perfect to pop in between bites of meat!!!

![Onion grilled on the plate](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-12-14r6m-900.webp)

Pork belly with garlic and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) — what more is there to say? It's just delicious~

![Pork belly topped with garlic and ssamjang](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-13-141ex-900.webp)

Dipped in myeolchijeot (fermented anchovy sauce), the pork neck had a salty, briny charm~ The pork neck also had no gamey smell and was fresh and chewy~

![Pork neck dipped in fermented anchovy sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-14-1wp78-966.webp)

Wrapped in myeongi namul (mountain garlic leaves) together with pork belly, asparagus, onion, and garlic sauce, the crunchy, savory asparagus and the tangy garlic sauce maximized the umami of the savory pork belly fat while also refreshing the palate — so good~

![A wrap of mountain garlic leaves with pork belly and asparagus](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-15-u1zsp-900.webp)

Just when I thought the staff member who finished grilling wasn't coming back, they returned to put the pork neck back on the wire rack so it wouldn't burn~ With this kind of attention, you really don't need to worry about burnt meat at Ssosam 208!!!

### Three sauces: red seasoning sauce, garlic sauce and red powder

They also gave us a red seasoning sauce, which I dipped into generously — spicy and salty, a real standout~

The garlic sauce tasted like a lemon-garlic blend, refreshing the palate nicely~ Dipped on its own with the pork belly, it also cut through the greasiness nicely~

![Garlic sauce served alongside the pork belly](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-16-1gvpd-900.webp)

![Aged kimchi and bean sprouts grilling on the plate](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-17-1xmyv-900.webp)

Grilled aged kimchi with pork belly is an insanely good combo of tangy and savory~ Adding the crunch and nuttiness of bean sprouts made it doubly satisfying — you have to try it!!!

I thought the red powder might be cumin powder and dipped my meat in it — it actually tasted like ramen seasoning~ When you're craving something spicy and salty, give it a try for a different flavor~

## How the pressure-cooked pork belly fondue kimchi jjim for two arrives

After diving into the meat for a while, the pressure-cooked pork belly fondue kimchi jjim (2 servings) finally arrived~ They first placed a pan of glass noodles on the grill, then cut up the pressure-cooked kimchi jjim (braised kimchi stew) for us~ At Ssosam 208 they even prep the kimchi jjim for you — all you have to do is eat~

They cut the kimchi first, then poured the broth and pork belly on top~ The portion of pork belly was generous and satisfying!!!

They also cut the bread into bite-size pieces with scissors~ Taking a bite, the bread was incredibly chewy with savory cheese inside — the more you chewed, the more the salty, savory flavor came through~

![Pressure-cooked pork belly fondue kimchi jjim served with cheese bread](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-22-y1ygc-900.webp)

The kimchi jjim had soft napa cabbage kimchi braised in the pressure cooker until tangy yet still crunchy, pairing wonderfully with the chewy, tender pork~

The slightly sweet kimchi jjim broth was clean, spicy, and bracing — it went great with soju and would also be perfect mixed into rice~

I wondered why the grilled kimchi and kimchi jjim were so delicious, and it turns out Ssosam uses HACCP-certified kimchi~ Made in a clean facility, so you can eat with peace of mind!!!

![Glass noodles soaked in kimchi jjim broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-23-1xrlm-900.webp)

The glass noodles soaked up the kimchi broth beautifully and were wonderfully chewy~

![Cheese bread dipped in kimchi jjim broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set/sosam-208-siheung-baegot-asparagus-set-24-1h5di-900.webp)

Dip the bread in the kimchi jjim broth and it turns moist and soft — it reminded me of mixing rice into kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), which felt oddly familiar~ If you're looking for a great spot to eat delicious meat with ease, or a nice date spot, I recommend Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch!!!
