## In short

Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi is a Korean restaurant near Hyeopjae Beach in Jeju, Jeju, serving breakfast from 8 a.m. We ordered the clear abalone pollock soup for 13,000 won, spicy Korean beef tripe soup for 12,000 won, and kids’ hangover soup for 6,000 won. Verdict: a great family breakfast stop when everyone wants a different kind of soup.

## Looking for hangover soup for breakfast in Hyeopjae?

![Exterior of Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-hyeopjae-abalone-pollack-soup/jeju-hyeopjae-abalone-pollack-soup-01-zevl0-900.webp)

Our second day in Jeju started with a Hyeopjae morning. I was looking for a hangover-soup place that served breakfast for my partner, who had been drinking the night before, and what a find Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi was!

With its welcoming exterior, Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi was already a real Hyeopjae favorite: on the weekend morning we visited as tourists, a group had just finished breakfast. The hangover soups for adults were fantastic, of course, but there was also a kids’ hangover soup, so I’d recommend it as a family meal spot for anyone traveling Jeju with children.

It is really close to Hyeopjae Beach and opens at 8 a.m., so if you are the type—like the Matoria couple(?)—to get up early and get moving on a trip, I highly recommend breakfast at Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi.

## The restaurant atmosphere and hangover-soup menu

We visited fairly early, at 9 a.m., but there were already quite a few traces of guests who had finished eating on the tables at this Hyeopjae favorite ♥ The owner of Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi was so kind with customers, which probably explains why there seemed to be many regulars and plenty of solo diners, too.

Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi, a Hyeopjae favorite, makes a range of dishes including hangover soups using carefully simmered beef-bone broth and clear seafood broth! The main soup-and-rice dishes are sea snail hangover soup, abalone pollock soup, abalone soft tofu soup, Korean beef tripe soup, and Korean beef hangover soup. They also sell kids’ hangover soup and black pork bulgogi separately, which was a point that made this mom traveling with a child genuinely happy ♥

We wanted both a clear broth and a spicy broth, so we chose the abalone pollock soup (₩13,000) and Korean beef tripe soup (₩12,000), then added the kids’ hangover soup (₩6,000).

First came the side dishes that go so well with hangover soup: napa cabbage kimchi, seasoned seaweed stems, dongchimi (radish-water kimchi) broth, salted seafood, chili peppers, and garlic. Every side dish was delicious, so I was excited excited even before the main soups arrived ^0^

## Clear and refreshing abalone pollock soup

![Abalone pollock soup at Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-hyeopjae-abalone-pollack-soup/jeju-hyeopjae-abalone-pollack-soup-07-i5pjl-900.webp)

Then came Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi’s star dish: this abalone pollock soup!!!

![A bowl of abalone pollock soup](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeju-hyeopjae-abalone-pollack-soup/jeju-hyeopjae-abalone-pollack-soup-08-1lpnf-900.webp)

The clear seafood broth was seriously refreshing and clean, with nicely bite-sized abalone, assorted seafood, shrimp, and even glass noodles.. ♥ I sincerely recommend this one to anyone who loves a clear hangover soup. As I get older, I find myself preferring white broth to red broth, so I totally fell for this abalone pollock soup and had my face buried in it—tmi~~

### Kids’ hangover soup that suited a child’s palate

And this is the kids’ hangover soup! Seaweed was thoughtfully served alongside it. Since all of Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi’s broths are delicious, the kids’ soup also had a base similar to the rich broth in the adult hangover soups, but it was a true beef-bone soup with only the refreshing, palate-cleansing edge toned down for children. It was packed with meat and bean sprouts, both of which our daughter loves, so it was absolutely perfect for her. (It was tasty even for this adult, haha)

## Korean beef tripe soup with a spicy red broth

Next was the so-called premium Korean beef tripe soup!!! haha It was the real deal: properly spicy, with plenty of dadegi (seasoned chili paste) and the house special sauce.

This Korean beef tripe soup was a true all-star gathering of tripe, packed full of ingredients. I want to share it with drinkers who love recovering with a spicy red broth.

Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi, a Hyeopjae favorite, was perfect for the Matoria family: breakfast is available, every dish on the menu is a gem, and there is kids’ hangover soup for little ones ♥ On future trips to Jeju, I think this will be the only hangover-soup restaurant near Hyeopjae I visit.
