## In short

Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu is a Korean restaurant in the Haksapyeong sundubu (soft tofu) village in Sokcho, where the same family has made tofu for three generations. Near Seorak Sorano, Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu served jjamppong seafood sundubu and bulgogi baekban with a banchan spread to rival a full Korean set-meal restaurant, plus complimentary acorn jelly. Nothing was heavily seasoned, so Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu is an easy choice for a meal with parents.

Visited Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu (진솔할머니순두부), a well-known Sokcho sundubu (soft tofu stew) spot. It's known throughout Haksapyeong sundubu village near Seorak Sorano for its long history and deep home-style flavor — here's an honest rundown of the visit.

## Where is Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu? Haksapyeong tofu village near Seorak Sorano

Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu sits in Haksapyeong Kongkkot Village near the Sokcho IC exit off the East Sea Expressway. It's a Sokcho sundubu restaurant frequently visited by guests staying at Seorak Sorano, Sono Felice, and Seorak Hot Springs.

![Spacious, tidy interior of Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu](https://img.superchart.com/images/sokcho-hakhpyeong-sundubu-jinsol-halmeoni/sokcho-hakhpyeong-sundubu-jinsol-halmeoni-04-1tw2l-m-900.webp)

The restaurant is quite large and spacious, so even during peak meal times or busy weekend hours, tables turn over quickly. Fitting for a place carrying on a three-generation tradition in the Haksapyeong sundubu village, the interior was clean and well kept.

## Which dishes come as a single serving? The Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu menu

Set meals require at least two servings, but sundubu, haejangguk (hangover soup), bibimbap, and baekban (rice with side dishes) can all be ordered as a single serving.

Today's order was jjamppong seafood sundubu and bulgogi baekban.

## A banchan spread to rival a Korean set-meal restaurant, plus a self-serve corner

Not sure if it was because we ordered the bulgogi baekban, or if the banchan (side dishes) always come out this generously, but the spread was seriously abundant. Despite being a sundubu place, the variety of banchan matched a proper hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal) restaurant — great value for the price.

The banchan weren't heavily seasoned at all — they had that mild, healthy, home-cooked taste like something your mom would make, and I loved that. There's also a self-serve corner where you can grab as much extra banchan as you want.

Asked a staff member about the Naver receipt review offer and got free acorn jelly for it. It didn't taste like factory-made acorn jelly at all — it had that homemade feel.

## Bulgogi baekban at Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu: portion and taste

Even as a single-serving order, the bulgogi baekban portion was by no means small. It's served bubbling hot at the table, and it was tasty on its own or mixed together with the rice.

## Jjamppong seafood sundubu made with house-made soft tofu

The jjamppong seafood sundubu is made with house-made soft tofu. Probably because the tofu is made in-house, it was noticeably nuttier and softer. Living up to its reputation as a Sokcho sundubu restaurant, the sundubu really was delicious — no wonder the name includes 'sundubu.'

## Is Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu worth a stop in Sokcho?

Visited Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu, a Sokcho sundubu restaurant, and was very satisfied. It's conveniently close to Seorak Sorano, and the generous Korean banchan along with the house-made sundubu were mild and healthy rather than heavily seasoned. If you're looking for a place to eat near Seorak Sorano, I'd definitely recommend giving Jinsol Halmeoni Sundubu, a well-known Sokcho sundubu spot, a try.
