## Why Furato Shokudo Seoul Square was the pick after the exhibition

My boyfriend and I saw the Max Ziedantop exhibit at Ground Seesaw Central, and afterward we made a special trip to Furato Shokudo Seoul Square Direct Store! I always thought there wasn't much to eat near Seoul Station, but I think I finally found the right spot.

### How to reach Furato Shokudo from Seoul Station Exit 9, and where to park

If you go out toward Exit 9 of Seoul Station, it connects directly to the Seoul Square building, so you can get there even on a rainy day without an umbrella! It's on the basement level, so it's really convenient for anyone taking the KTX or subway. As soon as you get off the escalator, the store entrance is right there, so there's no chance of getting lost — another plus.

## What is Furato Shokudo? A striploin gyukatsu specialist

Furato Shokudo is a Japanese-style gyukatsu specialist famous for letting you grill striploin gyukatsu yourself on a personal charcoal grill. It started near Gyeongbokgung and now has quite a few locations nationwide. The Seoul Square branch is a direct store run by headquarters itself, so I could trust it 🤍 The interior was much more spacious than I expected, and the tables were spaced generously, so we could chat comfortably without worrying about the next table.

## The full order at Furato Shokudo and what it cost

That day we ordered three things: gyukatsu (₩19,500), beef belly rice bowl (₩14,500), and Furato cold soba (₩10,000). And as you can see in the photo below, we also got a free mini karaage from a review event, so we ate a really hearty meal. Looking at the menu, they also had dishes like soft-boiled omurice and steki set — I want to try those on my next visit.

## How the gyukatsu is grilled at your own tabletop burner

The gyukatsu comes with a mini charcoal burner at the table, so you grill it yourself — first-timers will probably find it fascinating. Total Japanese vibes! The staff kindly explained how to grill it at the start, so it wasn't hard at all.

It comes out rare, so the biggest advantage is being able to adjust the doneness to your own taste. We grilled ours to a light medium, and it was juicy and tender!! There are also three different sauces served alongside, so it was fun dipping into different flavors each time.

It's delicious dipped in Furato's special sauce or chili sauce, but I also loved it with wasabi.

Topping the beef belly rice bowl with an egg yolk and mixing it in was seriously amazing!!!! I'm really glad we ordered a variety of dishes. The meat was piled on generously too, so it was a satisfying bowl!!

## Furato cold soba, 10,000 won: the best value on the menu

And the cold soba was seriously the best value. For ₩10,000, you get a generous amount of noodles and a clean broth — perfect for a hot day. Personally, if I come back to this place, I'm definitely reordering the cold soba. The gyukatsu-and-cold-soba combo is the best 🤍

The mini chicken karaage we got for leaving a review was crispy outside and juicy inside, and dipping it in the sauce made it even better 💗 A lot of places run review events, but it's rare to find one where the free dish is this good quality.

I'd recommend Furato Shokudo Seoul Square Direct Store to anyone looking for good Japanese food near Seoul Station! It's easy to combine with seeing an exhibit, the access is great, grilling it yourself is fun, and the prices aren't too heavy, so it works well for a date or a family outing. If you ever find yourself passing through Seoul Station, I'd suggest stopping by at least once! Next time, I'm definitely trying the soft-boiled omurice 🤍
