## Can you have naengmyeon and meat together near Cheonho Station?

While looking for somewhere to have lunch near Cheonho Station, I visited Boseung Hoegwan Cheonho Station Branch (보승회관 천호역점). It is known for gukbap (rice soup), but the weather was hot that day and I was craving naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles). We ordered the mul-naengmyeon and charcoal-grilled meat set, along with bibim-naengmyeon, and shared them.

## What were the atmosphere and seating like?

The restaurant was larger than I expected and generally tidy. There were plenty of seats when I visited, and the tables were neatly arranged. It did not feel cramped inside, so I could eat comfortably.

Rather than a place for a quiet atmosphere, it felt like somewhere you can walk into and have a meal without any fuss. It seemed fine for a quick meal when meeting near Cheonho Station, as well as for solo diners and family meals.

## How was the mul-naengmyeon and charcoal-grilled meat set?

At first, I considered having only naengmyeon, but chose the set that came with charcoal-grilled meat. After trying it, I found that alternating between the noodles and meat worked well, and I was glad we ordered them together.

The mul-naengmyeon was cool and clean-tasting. Its broth was neither overly rich nor intense, and the noodles were easy to slurp. A bite of noodles with a piece of charcoal-grilled meat was a good combination.

The charcoal-grilled meat had a subtle smoky flavor. I did not expect much from meat served alongside naengmyeon, but I kept reaching for it as I ate. I liked the way its smokiness added to the cool, tangy flavor of the noodles.

## How did the bibim-naengmyeon differ from the mul-naengmyeon?

The bibim-naengmyeon had a more pronounced sauce than the mul-naengmyeon, with tangy and spicy flavors. The sauce coated the noodles well, so it was good on its own; with the charcoal-grilled meat, the spice and the meat's smoky flavor came together nicely.

The mul-naengmyeon was good for a clean, simple meal, while the bibim-naengmyeon felt a little more full-flavored with the charcoal-grilled meat. Sharing both kept the meal from becoming repetitive. I thought naengmyeon alone might leave me hungry soon, but the meat made it a satisfying meal.

## What other dishes were available besides naengmyeon?

There was also a range of gukbap dishes, including sundae-gukbap (blood sausage rice soup) and suyuk-gukbap (boiled pork rice soup). I only had naengmyeon that day, so I cannot comment on the gukbap, but I would like to order it next time. What stayed with me from this meal was the combination of cool naengmyeon and smoky charcoal-grilled meat.

There was also notice of a discounted evening soju event when I visited. The original post did not state the discount amount or the conditions for it.
