## In short

Samsin Garosu-gil is a Korean-Chinese-Japanese fusion Chinese restaurant near exit 8 of Sinsa Station in Gangnam, Seoul. On a rainy day the writer and her boyfriend ordered XO crab fried rice, East Sea seafood jjamppong (spicy noodle soup), and fried dumplings served on seaweed chips, then finished with review-event dessert and a sinseollo shaved ice. The smoky wok flavor in the fried rice and the cool, savory jjamppong broth made it a Chinese restaurant worth returning to for a date.

Lately Chinese food just hasn't been hitting the way it used to, so I'd gotten a little jaded about it. But after visiting Samsin Garosu-gil, a Chinese restaurant near Sinsa Station, with my boyfriend, my whole opinion changed. Let me lay out the info and an honest review.

## The walk from Sinsa Station exit 8

Walking from Sinsa Station exit 8 toward Garosu-gil, you'll find it at 46 Gangnam-daero156-gil. Even on a rainy day, the hanok-eave-style decoration really caught my eye. A banner out front lists galbi-jjim (braised short rib) jajangmyeon, Tokyo tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), and 12 kinds of daily handmade dim sum as signatures. There's a valet parking booth too, so it's a convenient Chinese restaurant near Sinsa Station even if you drive.

## From the haetae statue terrace to the golden dragon light — the interior

Climb the stairs and there's a small terrace with a haetae (mythical guardian lion) statue. With dancheong-patterned awnings and even a logo carved into the floor, it was great for photos.

Inside, a long hallway lined with pine tree paintings stretches out. The floor is styled like a garden with sand and moss, so the atmosphere felt special from the moment you step in.

Up close, the murals had an East Asian painting feel, with cranes and pine trees. Lighting glowing softly from below made it feel upscale.

A golden dragon light fixture wrapped around a wish-fulfilling jewel hangs from the ceiling. It's clearly a photo spot — everyone ends up looking up at it.

The seats are mint-green leather sofas paired with green marble tables, a pretty color combination. There are partitions too, so you can talk without worrying about neighboring tables.

The staircase up to the second floor is laid with deep green carpet. It felt like walking into a hotel, which was oddly exciting. Private rooms can also be booked for up to 8 people.

We sat at a round table that felt roomy even for two. The setup was tidy, right down to the number tag and water pitcher.

Gold spoons, napkin rings, and even the glass coasters were all gold, which made us feel really taken care of. The staff guided us kindly, so it was a great first impression for a Chinese restaurant near Sinsa Station.

## The Samsin menu — Lunch Courses A through S

The menu has a leather cover with the logo embossed on it. Even the menu itself felt upscale. It's a Korean-Chinese-Japanese fusion Chinese restaurant.

![Leather-covered menu with embossed logo](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin-03-1n1v0-900.webp)

The first page tells the story of Samsin — the coming together of three countries' cooking. A dokkaebi (goblin), a haetae, and a girin (mythical unicorn) are said to symbolize the three deities.

![First page of the menu telling the Samsin story](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin-04-asx1t-900.webp)

Lunch Course A comes with king crab soup, 2 pieces of dim sum, Tokyo tangsuyuk, a choice of noodles, and dessert.

![Menu page listing Lunch Course A](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin-05-ae3di-900.webp)

Lunch Course B adds chili shrimp. If you join the review event, you get extra seasonal fruit sorbet.

Course C includes mapo chawanmushi and hot pot palbochae (mixed stir-fry). The Korean-food page with the dokkaebi illustration was memorable.

Course D comes with snow-flower fish in fragrant sauce and gochujang dongpo pork. The haetae is said to symbolize Chinese food.

![Chinese course menu page with a haetae illustration](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin-06-1hzan-900.webp)

Course E includes shark fin crab soup and ganpung Wando abalone. The girin decorates the Japanese-food page.

The signature Course S comes with steamed shark fin and king crab shark fin. Seems like a good one to book for a special occasion. Dim sum is freshly handmade every day, no matter which course you order.

There's also xiaolongbao, truffle sujeonggyo, and even kimchi xiaolongbao among the dim sum, which surprised me. Some items were marked as chef's recommendations.

The fried dumplings were crispy with juicy filling bursting out — genuinely delicious. I definitely want to try the mustard-leaf-kimchi mianbaoxia next time.

Tokyo tangsuyuk comes in small and large sizes, and there's also gochujang dongpo pork.

The premium menu includes ganpung Wando abalone, crab in egg-white sauce, and more.

There's East Sea seafood jjamppong, galbi-jjim jajangmyeon, and XO crab fried rice.

From Tsingtao to Moutai to Yamazaki, they have drinks from Korea, China, and Japan.

Non-alcoholic beer, sikhye (sweet rice drink), and zero-sugar cola are also available.

## From gonggalbbang to smoky fried rice

Once you order, Korean-style gonggalbbang (hollow puffed bread) comes out first. Crispy and sweet, it was a great appetizer.

![Korean-style gonggalbbang served as an appetizer](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin-09-xdy8y-900.webp)

We ordered fried rice, jjamppong, and fried dumplings.

![Crab fried rice topped with a fried egg](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin-10-6wq4u-900.webp)

The fried rice comes topped with a fried egg, and it's fluffy rather than drenched in oil. It was packed with that smoky wok flavor — the best fried rice I've had in a while. My boyfriend liked it so much he went back the next day with a friend.

## East Sea seafood jjamppong, a broth loaded with ingredients

The jjamppong looked appetizing from the rich, red broth alone. Loaded with onion and zucchini, it had a clean, refreshing flavor.

![East Sea seafood jjamppong with rich broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin-13-1q58h-900.webp)

![Bowl of jjamppong loaded with onion and zucchini](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin-14-1orif-900.webp)

The ingredients were hearty. The jjamppong broth was genuinely refreshing and delicious — the best jjamppong I've had lately.

The squid was thick too, giving it a satisfying chew.

## Fried dumplings served on a bed of gimbugak

The fried dumplings are served on black sesame gimbugak (crispy seasoned seaweed chips), so the presentation alone stands out.

![A plate of fried dumplings served on black sesame gimbugak](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin-18-130im-1200.webp)

We ended up ordering everything from jjamppong-bap to fried dumplings to fried rice. Next time, I think ordering a course would be nice too. The generous portion of ingredients really won me over.

Picking up a dumpling, the skin was thin and fried crispy. It was genuinely crunchy and delicious.

![Cross-section of a thin, crispy fried dumpling](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin-19-1qq6t-900.webp)

Dipped in the spicy chili oil sauce, it was even better.

The filling was packed with meat and tofu, with juices bursting out — really tasty.

The gimbugak served alongside was so crispy I kept picking at it like a snack. I'd never had gimbugak this crispy and delicious before.

![Crispy gimbugak served alongside the dumplings](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin-22-1yrwu-900.webp)

There's glass noodles inside the jjamppong, which made it easy to slurp up.

Mixing rice into the broth was a treat in itself. With ingredients so generously loaded in, just eating the solids alone was filling.

There were even octopus legs in there, making it feel substantial.

Plump mussels were included too — the seafood was seriously generous.

## Review-event dessert and sinseollo shaved ice

Since we joined the review event, mango sorbet and pudding came out for dessert. Most places only give you a drink for review events, but here the sorbet and pudding looked genuinely delicious.

![Mango sorbet and yuzu pudding served for dessert](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin-23-1ifmq-900.webp)

The pudding was soft, and the yuzu syrup on top was refreshingly tangy. I never got tired of it and kept eating spoonful after spoonful — it was that good.

![Red bean and injeolmi shaved ice served in a sinseollo vessel](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin/sinsa-chinese-seafood-jjamppong-fried-rice-samsin-24-r2319-900.webp)

We also added shaved ice. Red bean, injeolmi (rice cake), soybean powder, and matcha ice cream all come served in a sinseollo (traditional brass hot pot vessel).

The portion was generous, just right for two. It was so delicious and the staff so kind that my boyfriend wants to go back, and I'm planning to return with friends. If you're looking for a good date-spot Chinese restaurant near Sinsa Station, I'd recommend this place. It was genuinely delicious and lovely — one of the happiest places I've visited lately. I hereby name it the best Chinese restaurant near Sinsa Station.
