We had a fun family outing to Daewangam Park over the weekend! After walking around and enjoying the breeze, the kids got hungry pretty quickly.

So for lunch we headed to Daewangam Dol Jjamppong, which locals rave about as a Dong-gu, Ulsan must-visit. Here's my honest review of the sizzling stone-plate dishes that had us hooked from the first sound alone, and left us happily full.

## Quick summary

There was a wait during the weekend peak, but the table-registration system and waiting in the car made it painless. The restaurant also has its own parking lot right in front, so there's no need to worry about parking.

## Interior and family-friendly amenities

The dining room is split into two sides around a central area, so it felt more spacious than I expected! White tones mixed with wood created a clean, comfortable atmosphere overall.

even dessert yogurt thoughtfully provided — nice touches for families.

Every table has a tablet ordering system, so you can check the menu and pay all in one go. To make sure the whole family ate well, we ordered a solid combo of the restaurant's signature dishes.

### Self-serve house-made green onion kimchi

Besides pickled radish and onion, the self-serve corner had a generous supply of spicy house-made green onion kimchi!

Expecting it to pair well with the jajangmyeon, I scooped up a heaping plate.

## How's the scorched rice stone jajangmyeon?

After a short wait, the sizzling, steaming scorched rice stone jajangmyeon and stone jjamppong arrived!

Thanks to the scorching-hot stone plate, the scorched rice stone jajangmyeon stayed warm to the last bite, puffing out steam with an amazing visual.

Chunky seafood and a sweet, savory jajang sauce coated the noodles beautifully, clinging to every strand!

After eating some of the noodles, dipping the crispy scorched rice at the bottom into the sauce fills your mouth with a rich, nutty flavor.

## Scorched rice stone jjamppong and free rice

The scorched rice stone jjamppong had a great balance of crunchy bean sprouts piled high, plus fresh squid, mussels, and other seafood.

The broth was rich yet spicy and clean, soaking deep into the noodles — every bite bursts with savory flavor!

The heat of the stone plate kept the bean sprouts crunchy right to the end, and mixing the free rice into the leftover broth after finishing the noodles gave it a spicy jjamppong-rice feel — totally satisfying.

## Hands-on tips

Don't skip the green onion kimchi combo! Be sure to grab the spicy self-serve green onion kimchi and wrap it around the stone-plate jajangmyeon noodles — it really brings out the flavor.

Make the most of the free rice! After finishing the noodles, mix the free self-serve rice into the remaining thick sauce or broth for a filling finish, just like a proper bibimbap or soup rice.

A perfect finish, right down to dessert!
